The Colvin song gets quite a bit of use my Muzak on FM11 and Expressions2, and I've heard it a few times in recent history on Adult ContemporaryCashmere3. (Sorry, my bad.)

I am now posting aircheck files and such on Youtube under https://youtube.com/user/oldradiotapes on an experimental basis.

When downloading any of these files, please use only the type 22 (720-P) option when available, as it provides the highest-fidelity audio (MP4/192k AAC).

I was in a Rose's but didn't ask the source of their music. I didn't know they even had any left in my area. The store looked like an old-style KMart.

Several of the songs sounded to be like they belong on hot AC but they are probably mainstream AC. I did hear "Kiss on My List" by Hall & Oates and "Right Down the Line" by Gerry Rafferty, so it would have been mainstream AC at worst.

I mentioned a grocery store that has different styles of music provided by the corporate office (though I don't know the source). They were playing mainstream AC and I heard "Overkill" by Men at Work. I haven't heard that one in years.

At my own store which is probably FM-1, two Saturdays ago,
Mike + the Mechanics "All I Need Is a Miracle"
Carly Simon "The Right Thing to Do"
Bryan Adams "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman"

This past Saturday I only recognized "Hungry Heart" by Bruce Springsteen. I heard the words "stitch me up" and "love power" (in a duet between a man and woman).

That probably was "Stitch Me Up" by Herbie Hancock featuring John Mayer.

"Love Power" by Dionne Warwicke & Jeffrey Osbourne. There is no duet with a man and woman in "Hungry Heart".

(Maybe this page might help: http://12.19.54.83/wpn/030.html )

I started to say it sounded like Dionne Warwick. I don't get where you thought I said "Hungry Heart" was anything but a solo performance. It was Bruce.

I misread your description. That happens. (Although come to think of it, I did hear a concert record of "Hungry Heart" once with Bruce singing a duet! It wasn't on FM1. But I digress.) But your "love power" duet was probably (since I wasn't actually listening to Foreground Music 1 at the time) "Love Power" by Dionne & Jeffrey. It gets a LOT of play on FM1:

Edit: Since Sony have apparently decided to raise cain about anyone *not* playing it on the full Youtube site (Allah forbid), I begrudgingly have to post this link instead. (Just remember to Trash Your Cache and delete ALL your cookies before and after using this or any other G??gl?-related site):

Great song.....a song that is obviously avoided by radio and those 80's weekends, for some unknown reason. As much as I like "Down Under"....it wasn't their only hit.

When was the last time we all heard "Be Good Johnny" or "It's a Mistake" on radio??  Probably the great music year of......1983

I've  heard It's a Mistake recently, my recollection is that Be Good Johnny was mostly heard on AOR stations.

"Be Good Johnny" never became a single, to the best of my knowledge.  I remember my local FM top 40 playing it in early '83 right after "Down Under" had run its course, so I was thinking, "hmmm, next single."  But instead, the "Men" went on to the Cargo album and released "Overkill" as the first single from that second album.  So needless to say, my local FM almost immediately dropped "Be Good Johnny" like a hot potato, and never touched it again!  Roll Eyes  I think the Men missed a potential third hit from Business As Usual by skipping over "Be Good Johnny" and going on to "Overkill."
