7:05 PM?  Sign off in February is supposed to be 6:15!  Does "pre-construction
measurements" mean 52 watts?

And on a related note...I'm hearing KNUV a lot better tonight (+/- 9 PM) than
I should in the 'Tuke.  Did the Big 1190 forget to drop to 400 watts at sunset?

Thank you catfish! I knew something was probably up. Can't wait for the new Nautel to come online!

You mean their mighty 250 watts  Wink (at least according to radio-locator). I just went over to KNUV and noticed that they are in fact stronger than usual. Most of the time, they don't even come in at night out here in Gilbert. 250 watts from "T-town" with a major null doesn't really make it out to the Southeast Valley all that well. If you're hearing them in the "Tuke", then there's definitely something up as that null is more severe in your direction. I guess every other week now there's at least one station not powering down. A couple weeks ago it was KXXT, 1010 AM, now it's KNUV. The KFNN virus is spreading!  Shocked

You've got KNIT (currently off the air) and its disappearing copper.  Fortunately for us Zonies, Lumberyard 14~Forty has nothing of value to steal.. with the possible exception of proprietary intelligence. Not every group operator can do so little for so long as Gumpdusky has with the all day Goldmine*!

*not to be confused with the high school radio station using the same name in trade for tower space.

Tuned into the Lumberyard this evening around 5:45 P.M. to see if those golden oldies were playing after Radio Khushi, and all I heard was static.

Thursday afternoon the Radio Khushi dj's said their goodbyes around 5:45pm as Nurse Jeff and I anxiously awaited hearing wornout oldies until the drifting carrier dump at 6:15pm.  No such luck, as Hindi Hits (without any talk, commercials or station ID, aired until the beloved Lumberyard 14~Forty called it a night. Guess the gold miner in charge of switching the audio feed wandered off and figured someone else would take care of it. All these snafus should resolve themselves once the new Nautel is installed and the lamptimer is retired. But the burning question we have is this: will there be any money left in the budget to paint the Tower of Pow-Pow-Power? To give you an idea of how thin and faded the paint is, the Earl Scheib paint job on our '76 Gremlin looks better  Grin

Wow. finished the thread. Amazing!!

While streaming from globaltuners.com I heard at least 3 "surprises"

"There's A Moon Out Tonight" by the Capris
"Only In America" by Jay and the Americans
"Talk Talk" by the Music Machine

rarely played oldies. Not bad, Gumpdusky!!! Viva Lumberyard 14-forty!!!

Nurse Jeff and I can't recall when so much has been written about so little (okay, so there are a few topics by the Old Gringo and KDM7000 that come to mind). Too bad your Globaltuner.com can't take you to the Lumberyard for a view of the tower's faded paint; the 1950's style xmttr building complete with peeling paint on all wooden surfaces; the tremendous amount of junk surrounding the tower; and the lack of owned or leased real estate for a real ground system. But none of this will deter the Goldminers as the new Nautel is on it's way and we're counting the days to the lamptimer's retirement party. Who knows?...maybe Gumpdusky will fly Edd Byrnes in to host this kookie event!
