And I'm surprised no one has mentioned two board games which have failed to make the move to television: "Monopoly" (ABC, 1980). Mike Reilly might have been a great "Jeopardy!" contestant but he was badly out of his element as a host. Besides, you can't play Monopoly in 30 minutes, and trying to simplify it for television takes all of the fun out of it.
You meant to say 1990 for "Monopoly" on ABC (it ran for 13 weeks that summer after "Super Jeopardy" on ABC Saturday evenings).

I think Trivial Pursuit (Knight version) is pretty good. Since it's got more money, and viewer questions (which really no game show has had viewer questions), I'll give it a good A or A- rating. Even though some people say a half a season, I think it's going to be 3 or 4 seasons. Who knows?

I must have hit the wrong key; "Monopoly" did air in the summer of 1990.

i am surprised that no one mentioned this one....3's a crowd....who knows more, the wife? or the secretary? that alone sounds like trouble. the one game that chuck barris (who produced the show) said that it looked good on paper....maybe wasn't a good idea

I know Let's Make A Deal ( sans Monty Hall ) has been already mentioned in here but I remember back in the early 90's when Monty Hall tried to do a telephone interactive version of Lets Make A Deal. Not only it didn't last but it also hurt ( at least somewhat temporary anyway ) Monty Hall's image thanks to the ads for the show. Such as showing newspaper headlines of some big business like General Motors, United Airlines, etc...how they are laying off thousands of people and asking "how would you like to get some extra cash in your pocket ?...play the telephone interactive Lets Make A Deal !!!!!!".

GSN had it's share of stinkers..."Friend or Foe" with Kennedy (probably the worst game show host EVER!), mean spirited and just no fun! MTV's "Trashed", where if you got a question wrong one of your "prized posessions" would be destroyed in front of you! No fun, either. And who could forget "Bowling For Dollars"?

I'm not laughing about "Bowling For Dollars." We used to get that on WFAA Dallas, with Verne Lundquist as host, and when I would tell anyone from outside the Metroplex about it, they'd look at me as if they'd just taken poison. Personally, I think it's the corniest program ever put on television.
I also agree about "Three's A Crowd," and I might add that a lot of stations bowed to pressure from women's groups and canceled the show early on. One that didn't, WSB Atlanta, found that 7:30 was one time slot it couldn't win; that distinction went to WXIA and "Tic Tac Dough." The Atlanta Journal's critic even had to admit that there was still some taste left in the world.
