I completely agree with you about that; Clear Channel and Citadel bigwigs surely had some influence with that great piece of legislation.  I have to say that there are still a few locally owned stations that seem eager to walk in the footsteps of CC and Citadel.  101.7 has an awesome opportunity to offer up something like what WXHC (Cortland) is doing.  HUGE playlist, personalities who don't sound like they are programmed, voice-tracked has beens.  Pirate?  LPFM operators?  Bring it on; people would put down their iPods and turn off their satellite radio if there was something worth listening to on FM.  My two cents.....thanks for reading.  Smiley

You mention 101.7 has an opportunity. I give the women at my office the choice of radio stations and it's either 103.3 or 101.7. When 103.3 started playing xmas music, we moved to 101.7 all the time. Otherwise it could change on a daily basis. The girls have noticed not as much old music on 101.7 and they like it. They want to stay on 101.7 but that could change tomorrow as girls change their minds often. Maybe next week we will be on 98.1 but over my dead body.

I feel that we gain many listeners during this season, especially when Mix starts all Christmas in MID November!

On the other hand, I know some guys who are pretty faithful KGB listeners who actually LIKE to hear all Xmas tunes during the season...  go figure.

I'll stop hijacking the thread now...

Back to "Out 97"-  I have not heard the station on the past few Friday and Saturday nights when I've checked, but maybe I'm just missing it.

If not for a pirate in this area, what would be the interest in listening?  How many times can you hear "Old Time Rock n Roll" by Bob Segar?  "More Than A Feeling", "The Logical Song" ...... and the list goes on.  Why so frequent repetition?  Seriously, anyone would conclude that the quality of radio in this market SUCKS!   .....  PERIOD!  No one wants to actually put some effort into it; the programmers are just along for the ride.  What a Crock!  (that's my 2 - cents)  How about yanking some of those translators off the air and opening those channels up to a "community" operator?

i completely hear you on this one!!!...such was the reason for my conception of my internet stations. and while i'm at it...lets
get BACK ON TRACK HERE FOLKS....does anyone know or have any idea who is running OUT 97 YET???... and to once again let anyone (even you steve) know i have no affiliation, no knowledge or any idea WHO RUNS OUT 97.  I am in WHITNEY POINT!! this signal comes from waay south of me. again, i  run a strictly INTERNET BASED NETWORK (works great on cell phones too), one entirely by me, and another partial ownership in... (the "97" internet radio network) but HAVE NO AFFILIATION OR KNOWLEDGE OF "OUT 97"!!  i don't need to advertise it on here the domains if you know me well enough, you know what i run, and FM is not even worth the aggravation, so i do not even use or care to use an FM signal. i pay enough for licensing, domains and and related expenses, and i am happy with listenership, even if small. And heck... regardless of anything.... its just great fun, and no ego's allowed, no fcc, no expensive consulting, no uptight competition, just what the end listener cares about...a good mix of music and no commercials. and... i can sleep at night, because its not over air.

Still on!

Another brief listen to "Out 97" last weekend...

It sounded like an unattended CD changer.  No talk or segues...

The Pet Shop Boys - "What Have I Done" (to deserve this), followed by George Harrison's "Blow Away"

Another example of a rhythmic "party" CHR station that will turn this market upside down.

Mix2 106.5 HD-2 Baltimore, MD

Flirting with the idea of heading to Binghamton in Easter, anyone can confirm if Out is still on?
