Got ripped off by 97-5 WABB!
« on: April 01, 2009, 10:23:21 PM »

I am sharing this unfortunate tale today and no this is not an April Fool's joke either. On 12/29/08 someone in promotions returned my phone call and told me if I sent a self addressed stamped envelope, they would send a t-shirt. About a month ago I finally sent one in but no one there has claimed they got it or anything. Then when I contacted the business manager via email, she told me the station doesn't have a habit of sending out stuff in the mail. I paid 10 stamps for this shirt that I was told to send in. The promotions director and everyone else there refuses to call me back on it. I don't know why they won't but I can't believe radio stations like this even exist. It's just so stupid. I have given ample time to hear back and haven't. My patience is unfort. running out. I just want a shirt - what is the problem there?

This station is ripping me off of my money/shirt now - unbelievable! I checked with the local post office located on that same road the studio is on which the lady there said WABB has a good mail carrier and that she was sure they got my self addressed stamped envelope. I think this station does not care about it's listeners or ripping people off of money. WABB not only ripped me off but lied to me as well. If they had been upfront about not sending shirts in the mail I wouldn't have gotten my money in postage lost and could have gotten that shirt customized. WABB is now worse than WXSS 103.7 Kiss FM where I live in Wisconsin. Musically not but as a whole, yes. No station has ever treated me like this. I've had to contact their attorney who represents them and now he's handling this matter. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Do a lot of stations have a policy of not sending out stuff in the mail?

And get this one of the jocks says to send another self addressed stamped envelope to him and he might send a shirt (blue color, size XL). Is that wise to trust him? Should I even do that? Boy if I did, I would get signature confirmation to check and acknowledge the sent envelope. I'm going to wait and see what the attorney finds out first though. This is the worst radio station in the world.

Okay, a couple things.  First, WABB has had so much staff turnover in the past several months that it is very likely whomever you talked to isn't there any longer.  Chances are you're precious $4.00 in postage got lost in the shuffle.

Second, I have it on good authority that WABB has a policy of not sending any prizes thru the mail. Even to those in the listening area that live an hour + drive away.

Third, you have actually contacted an attorney over this!?!?!?!?! Read this carefully......you are talking to a lawyer over postage that you sent across the country UNSOLICITED in hopes that a station will send you a $8 t-shirt.  What the hell are you going to get accomplished by this? A bill from the lawyer? Maybe TWO t-shirts because of the damages you've suffered?

Next, YOU LIVE IN WISCONSIN!!  It is very rare that ANY station would give two squirts about someone clammering for a shirt who doesn't live in the area, let alone someone who's in the opposite end of the country. I personally have sent out many s.e.s.e back in the day in hopes of getting a couple bumper stickers. I'd say I got MAYBE 20% back.  Damn, I should've sued them bastards for wasting my postage.

Granted WABB has a lot of faults with it.  I'll be one of the first to point them out.  But honestly, the emotion and effort you're putting in is such a waste of time.

Good lord, get a life.

Us folks that work in radio hate being bothered by collectors.

Leave me alone, I will save my shirts and other crap for the prize pigs that at least might listen to my station.

Your a nutcase, get a lawyer (which you didn't do - so you are a nutcase and a liar) and see how much more money you lose.

If I were his lawyer, I would be flattered to collect his check over an $8 t-shirt lost in the mail.

Am I the only one who thinks this is an April Fool's gag, or are all badgers from Wisconsin this batty?  Huh Cheesy

I can see no one had any real helpful advice - instead it was all rudeness and hostility. I did not post to be berated and yelled at. I don't appreciate any of these comments.

Whatever happened to the saying "Treat people how you would want to be treated"? So a station treats a listener that is or was a real fan of them by ignoring their calls and refusing to acknowledge that a packaged envelope for one of their tshirts because of some stupid policy they've concocted of not sending stuff in the mail? Even when the listener pays for it? How this makes sense to you people I will never know.

What you're saying is that it's ok to work in a station and be the owner of it but not be listener friendly. I think I'd go out of business real fast then.

No what I am saying is this, leave people alone and quit bothering them for free crap when you don't listen to the station.

Quit whining.

I thought your post on that thread of mine was really nasty and uncalled for. How does that make me a nutcase? Even more ridiculous a liar. I am one of the most honest people out there. They lied to me and everyone else I've talked to in person agreed this wasn't right what that station did. I so wish you and a lot of other people had a clothes fetish so you'd understand. I now don't like radio very much as I used to because of situations like this and am glad I am choosing something else that is easier to get into and better pay to get into for my career.

I don't know why you had to be so hostile but I didn't appreciate it.
Why did you message me with this crap?

What is a clothes fetish and how do you get one?

Go get a better job and leave the adults alone.

I listen to this station. You must have never heard of on the phone listening or streaming audio. I messaged you because you were nasty and needed to be informed. And you still are. This isn't for free crap either. I have paid lots for rare radio stuff on sites like ebay.

A question meaning you don't think you were being nasty and that I still deserve every bad thing said to me.
