20 minutes of commercials per hour 24/7?  Sounds like a bit much - four 5 minute breaks plus any news or local - Huh??

Ever been to Chipley? WBGC won't be playing any Arbitron games, so TSL & AQH don't matter. If this 1-kw AM in a town of 3600 people in a county of 22,000 has any reason for existing, at all, it isn't to battle the dozen FM sticks booming in from Dothan & Panama City over who can play the most music. It will be solely about providing hyper-local information and promoting local teams, local causes & local organizations. Whatever music WBGC will play--if it chooses to play any at all--will be incidental, since nobody is going to listen to the station for music anyway.

Twenty announcements each hour about local businesses isn't too much if the station exists to provide information about the local community. Besides, that presumes they actually sell out. They (we all) should be so lucky!

Still sounds like alot, but the main issue would be finding 40 sponsors that will spend that much in that area.  Sounds like a good plan though.

I am pleased to report WBGC will return to the air this weekend. The power will be back on later today and I will be making an inspection to report on conditions in the studio/transmitter building to the late owner's son. We will be returning to our oldies/adult standards format and re-adding Fox and FNN news in the coming days. Other local programs are in the works.

On a related development, I am sad to report the passing of WBGC owner Dr. Jacquelyn Collier Pembroke after a long illness this past Monday. Her son, Rev. Arthur Collier III will be moving to this area in the next few months to assume a full-time role in the operation of the station.

Thank you to all the inquiries and comments on WBGC. They are greatly appreciated. Please pray for Rev. Collier during this difficult time and for a new beginning for Washington County's only broadcast outlet 1240AM WBGC.

Tom,
Good news, sad news.  Sorry to hear about the owner but I am happy to hear her son is stepping up, even in this difficult time.  Cutting it close though, dont forget the letter to the FCC when you git 'er cranked up!!!

Good luck, were all pulling for you,

In this time of transition and remembrance for the family, it is good to see that a family radio station is likely to avoid cancellation of the license.

As the earlier poster said, notify the FCC of resumption of broadcasting.  The notification can be made using the FCC CDBS system, and I  recommend following it up by letter via hand or overnight delivery. It's wise to have the attorney do it, do not drop a letter in the mail.  You need the confirmation from CDBS or the hand stamped copy back from the FCC.

Good luck!
