97 Rock has a new voice
« on: June 08, 2005, 09:51:46 PM »

According to ALLACCESS.com Joe Kelly is the new station voice of 97 Rock. Although  I just tuned in and heard the old voice. I know Joe Kelly has done WCMF sweepers for years.

Nothing like bringing a 6 year old thread back to life!  Joe was awarded the gig back in June of 2005 according the date on the original post above.

Yeah but we'll give majic a pass...it's Joe Kelly...onetime of Chicago AV and Superspots fame with those slates announcing he was from "beautiful, crime-free Chicago".

Concert spots never had more personality...

Chas, I'll go along with that.  Remember the "Tops and Temptations" spots he voiced back in the mid-80s for the legendary Motown acts?  Great stuff!

Not sure I remember the Motown stuff...I've got some old reels from CNY concerts, mostly pop/rock...Weedsport Speedway(You know it's summer when they're rockin' at Weedsport!"), Broome County Arena, Carrier Dome...including Prince's '84 Purple Rain Tour, in a box with a purple label and Joe Kelly's opening line..."the rain...has fallen".

I borrowed a reel deck from a friend and need to hook it up and archive this stuff. I would've done it at work but no more reel decks...unless you count the Otari in pieces back in Engineering...

The new question is, will they soon have a new morning show producer?
