Zone I and Zone II areas.
« on: September 20, 2005, 02:37:52 AM »

Why is the Northeast of the US, from Illinois to New York, from Maine to Virgina and south of the 43rd parallel in California have to be a Class B radio station. Why they can't go above 50kw/150 meters. Also, why is it in the Northeast of the US, TV stations cannot exceed, (2-6)100kw at 300m, (7-13)316kw at 300m?

As far as TV goes, those are the limits everywhere.

When it comes to radio, I would guess it's because those areas have a much higher population density and therefore need more stations to serve them, so the stations can't use as much power.

Not quite, most of our TV stations in NC have that wattage limit but with a 600m height limit.
