Best Internet station I've heard
« on: July 11, 2009, 02:54:37 PM »

Capitol Jazz Radio - streaming station put on by the folks at Capital Jazz Fest in DC. I  have no idea who programs this thing and I stumbled onto it quite by accident but they are not afraid of tempo and don't trip up into any of the smooth jazz cliches..no whispery voices urging you to "relax," focus on the strongest trax rather than the singlesand the full length versions. Not afraid of electric guitar solos, blaring horns, funky horn sections or any of the other BA no-no's. They play stars, indies, and underpromoted older goodies. Covers and vocals are rare. Heard Urban Knights "On The Radio," Golub's "Manteca" and Incognito's "Colibri" and some tasty older Art Porter...their tag is "jazz that rocks" although their lean is more urban.

Hmmmm - for some reason I could not connect to the Capital Jazz link.  I have a wide assortment of mostly smooth jazz links, some dinner jazz links on my website. I wanted to try and add Capital Jazz - has anyone else had trouble connecting?  Try my website, let me know if it would fit.  Cheers

groovemeister --- the link takes a very long time to execute from their site; might want to try getting there directly from live365; wait long enough and eventually it will work

That's odd, because the link worked as fast for me as going directly through Live 365. There is always a short stall while 365 loads and plays their promo, then another stall where the station loads but it's never more than about 20 seconds each for me.

Popped in to see if the link worked and now I'm listening to "Bright Moments" by Lonnie Liston Smith. Delicious!
