"Is it really too much to ask that the #7 market in the country have some kind of classic rock station?"

I would love for whoever programs the music w/100.5 to just grow a pair and push a classic rock/classic hard rock format.  Lots of options there..plenty of one-hitters and deep tracks that took of in some cities and not others.  That might be too niche, though.

Looks like top 40 - Today's Hit Music. The old website now points here:

Station flipping to I93.3.  Any chance the smae thing happens in ATL to 100.5?

I was wondering that myself.  It'll be interesting to see how this whole "Quality(sic) Rock" thing works out in ATL.  It didn't in Dallas.  I think that Rock100.5 made a mistake flipping from heritage/newer classic rock to what is merely a slightly harder version of AAA Dave.

it didn't work out in dallas? they weren't even on the air for 4 months. and clearly no one put much thought behind the station during that time. half-assed? i'd go with quarter-assed. so we'll never know whether the station done correctly would've worked.

KDBN's ratings as a classic rocker were abysmal. 1.0 or so. As "Quality Rock"...they were half of that. Cumulus has no $$$ for marketing or promotion. That didn't help...but the music was simply terrible. Barenaked Ladies and Counting Crows are NOT quality rock.

Too bad TRG didn't move to Dallas and Cumulus change the Atlanta format.  I used to listen to the TRG every morning, and was especially glad when they added Steve and Tim, but now it's almost non-stop conservative talk radio. I don't need more politics with my morning commute. Larry is the most annoying.
Now I'm back to 99X. Love the music.

I think the whole syndication idea was terrible for TRG.  Their show suffered because of this.  Hopefully they can get some of the edge back.

Yeah, my bro-in-law says the same thing...he used to like to listen to them because he thought they were funny...but now everything is the same obama jokes in a different wrapper.  I'm sure TRG's demo loves it.
