From the East Coast Hockey League website:

BOSTON - New England Sports Network (NESN) has hired former Atlantic City and Idaho play-by-play announcer Rob Simpson as the rink-side reporter for Boston Bruins telecasts.

Simpson, who has 19 years of radio and television broadcasting experience and who worked the 2002 ECHL All-Star Game, will be providing updates and interviews before the game, between periods and after the game, while also producing and hosting NESN's weekly Bruins program "Granite City Electric Bruins Breakaway".

Simpson was "Voice of the Steelheads" from the team's inaugural season in 1997-98 to 2000-01 and was the "Voice of the Boardwalk Bullies" from the team's inaugural season in 2001-02 to 2002-03. The Detroit native spent the past four years as producer and host of "Maple Leaf America", a program that he created for Maple Leafs Television. The 30-minute weekly show focused on former Leafs players and Leafs fans across the United States. He also did play-by-play, color commentary and sideline reports for regional sports networks covering hockey and soccer.

A graduate of Central Michigan University, Simpson began his career in Ft. Myers, Florida as a reporter for WINK-TV and moved to KGMB-TV in Honolulu where he served in a variety of roles including sports reporter and weekend sports anchor. He worked five seasons with the Boise Hawks professional baseball team, calling more than 400 games on the radio while producing and hosting more than 50 episodes of "Hawk Talk", a weekly television magazine show. In four seasons with the Steelheads, he broadcast more than 300 games on radio and televisions while producing and hosting more than 50 episodes of the team's weekly magazine show. He was the play-by-play broadcaster for the 1999 WCHL All-Star Game and worked as the rink-side reporter for the 2000 WCHL All-Star Game.
