Ironically, better radio is found on the lower powered signals -- WJRV 106.1, WFIV 105.3, WUTK 90.3, WDVX 89.9, WOKI 98.7 & WPFT 106.3 (before it went to be a lame ESPN satellite).

...and my favorite, 91.1 WKCS.

The only other locals I listen to are News Talk 100, the oldies on 98.1, and Jack FM.

Meant to say the oldies on 98.7, not 98.1.  By the way, I occasionally will listen to AM 1040, but other than that all my AM presets are on out of town stations - WSM 650 Nashville, WLW 700 Cincinnati, WSB 750 Atlanta, WBBM 780 Chicago, and WCBS 880 New York.   Nighttime listening, of course.

Who is going to take them on who isn't already beating them with another format? Citadel is sitting atop the ratings with WIVK and above them with WNOX, Journal is above them with CHR and whatever you call "HOT".

There is no reason for one of these companies to devote any energy to toppling the format. They're already performing better without having to compete.

The saddest thing is that South Central could own the #2, 3 and 4 positions in the ratings if they would just find someone who knew the market to program the signals. Think of the income that would generate.

Agree or not WIMZ hasn't been great since the days of Phil Williams and Commander Dave. John Boy and Billy have brought WQUT down in the hole with

their mindless, redneck and racial slanting or whatever words I can come up with. It was cute for a while, but things get stale . Some listeners are finding oldies stations as a remedy but that will get old too.  Coporate boneheads have already thrown classic country out to the hogs and oldies will be the next.

I guess what we consider music since the british invasion is running it's course. God forbid the crap that comes off of American Idol as the next "good idea".

Thats why knox needs a dance station, or something hotter than star, but less urban than hot,,,, is hot even an urban station... A modern day version of Tnz or woki may work again,,,,,,  its just cant be the same playlist as then, cause it needs to target 12 plus and 18-34......   Star and hot are just not as good as woki and star.   we need some good talent and some good sweepers, music, prizes,, and a flame thrower signal wouldnt hurt either......    Wimz wont change, neither will the current 100.3, but we need to petition other stations,,, Knox needs a local chr like WnOU Indianapolis, or 96.5 The mountain in chat town.......

No way. They ignore most of the urban hits and can't even say the words "hip hop" or "rap" on the air.  Hot is rhythmic CHR.  What we need here is a real urban station. Yeah I know, it will never happen.

There really is no answer to "beating" WIMZ (by the way, their ERP is actually 79,000 watts, but the FCC lets them send 100,000 directly at the horizon with an electric beam tilt of the antenna)...

People will listen to them, because they have always listened to them.  I agree with all the posts, especially the ones about John Boy and Billy laugh at each other (just time out the amount of space when they start laughing, and add it up at the end of their "show"... think of all the time they could spend playing something different than the Van Sants, the AC-DC's, the Stones, and all that other stuff that has long since outlived its airplay)...

The only thing we can hope for, is that advertising continues to sink, stations stay unprofitable, and they are forced to sell them to somebody more interested in making a buck.  Good luck with that one.

My guess would be South Central is not going to do anything about WIMZ unless everybody stops listening to it.
