Anyone know if HD radio will ever get a power boost?they tell you how good it sounds and it does sound great.but when driving around HD 2 keeps going in and out.

They will probably get their power boost.  Unfortunately, it won't do much to help with your situation.  Reception in the near to medium fringes of a station is characterized by rapid fluctuations in signal strength, as much as 50 to 60 dB.  The power increase is only 10 dB.  Given the lock times of HD radio, you won't notice a difference in reception.

Actually, I think they are now talking about compromising on a 6 DB increase.

The HD 2 subchannels have much less coverage areas then the primary channels.

what is 6 DB more power ?

In simpler terms, 10 watts plus 6dB equals 40 watts.  A gain of 6dB is 4 times more than you started with.

when will broadcasters realize that destroying your money-making analog signal to push that sub-standard, weak compressed digital sideband is an entire waste of time?  remember  Laser disk technology?  same mistake here.  unbelievable waste.  concentrate on pushing a good product and let this BM die.

Most have.  There are many more not using this "technology" than are.

2 or 3 years from now everyone will have HD.some new cars come with HD.soon 90% OF all aftermarket radios will be HD.I just cant wait for the 4X increase in power I hope its very soon like in a week or 2..
