Even though they're on a lesser signal, I don't think it's that bad of a signal. I can receive it fine here in the Lower East Side. Maybe that drop-off is due to many listeners being surprised by the switch and tuning out in anger.

Also, there are some errors in the grid. For example, the misplaced the old calls WCAA where WXNY's current numbers are. That's also a bit surprising as I thought there wouldn't be a drop-off of more than half because of the frequency shift. I have to think that's an error as well.

As WXNY and Party FM are brand new, we can't make a guess as to where they'd go.

It just continues to grate me that all of these stations with music mixes that I hate continue to have relative success. This means that the demographic make-up isn't going to change radically for the next five years. We may have to wait another 5-10 years before knowing if a pure contemporary dance format is doable on the commercial side of the dial. More years of ghetto urban music, old dance recurrent/hiphop/pop-friendly uptempo blends, older urban music, old rock and old pop. I would go nuts without the internet Italo and Eurodance stations!

WRXP (finally) broke the 2,000,000 mark in cume! If they could focus their sound some more by jettisoning much of the remaining dinosaur rock, then maybe their TSL number would improve, too!

I don't know why RXP is focusing on classic rock in general.  More modern rock and alternative, then RXP would do killer damage.

They are probably still playing it because that music tends to do well in the PPMs.  Just look at Q104.

It certainly doesn't do well in the PPMs when it's thrown in with 57 other varieties of rock.  It also seems that RXP has been gaining some traction recently, while it has dropped some of the classic rock.  Coincidence?

Possibly but Q104 seems to be doing well and they do nothing but play it.  Maybe they have picked up some unhappy RXP listeners while RXP is turning people back on to the radio?

Also, there are some errors in the grid. For example, the misplaced the old calls WCAA where WXNY's current numbers are.

The October survey ended on the 15th, and the WXNY calls went into effect on 10/16.

No, there is no error, because Arbitron considers a frequency change with either a name or call change and a format change to be a new station. WCAA 96.3 only had numbers in the last week of the book. The monthly number, though, is an average of 4 weeks. So three weeks at 0 and one at 3.6 gets a month at 0.9.

CBS-FM still rocking I see! Any station that can play Crosby Stills and Nash against the theme from Miami Vice gets my vote. Station sounds great!!

DAAAAAAAAMMMMMNNNNNN @ WQXR!!

The last week of the survey (8th to the 15th) was the only one of the 4 where the new QXR had numbers. They got about a 0.3 or 0.4 for the week, and, of course, zeros the preceeding three weeks.

Seeing this and the debut week of X 96.3 at a 3.6, you realize how truly horrible the 105.9 signal is.
