Steel Pier TV Shows
« on: December 01, 2009, 09:53:37 AM »

Does anyone know if there is any video of the old Ed Hurst Show from the Steel Pier? It started on Channel 12 (WVUE) with Joe Grady, then Channel 3 for many years with Ed Hurst and Micky Marlo, in the mid 60's, then on Channel 10 for one year co-hosted by by Doug something and on to Channel 17 for 2 seasons in 68 and 69 hosted by Ed Hurst with the late Bobby Gail when it was first broadcast in color, and the final days after 1970 it was on Channel 6.
I recall many hours of watching the diving horse, pictures of the beach and ocean and the great dancers, and listening to George A. Hammod Sr. halking the New Jersey state fair.

I am going to answer my own post. I did a search and apparently there is no video saved or available. I remember in 1968 Ch. 17 had six brand new Norelco (Phillips) color camera's ans recorded on a reel to reel AMPEX videotape machine. The cost of tape must have been expensive and was used over and over again.
