Question about WNGC
« on: October 15, 2005, 11:36:13 AM »

Was listening Friday afternoon and I heard a newscast that was made up entirely of Athens and Northeast Georgia related stories.   Then I heard a traffic report that was made up entirely of Atlanta traffic conditions.   Are they trying to be a local Athens station, or a Metro-Atlanta move-in?

Some time ago, WNGC filed to move closer into the metro area, but IIRC, the move was rejected. But as far as hearing Atlanta traffic reports, they have a good signal into the east side of metro Atlanta and I would suspect that a good number of people who live in the Athens-Northeast Georgia area work in the Atlanta area, too.

I still think something may come of the 106.1 signal but not willing to bet the farm on it. I thought that WNGC is too move to the new 100.1 coming to Athens but that may only be when/if 106.1 comes closer to Atlanta.
