Actually come to think of it, I will complain about something: I wish the DJs would announce the songs either before or after they're played! That was a necessary evil before artist and title fields became standard on all radios. [/quote] Not only does it not work on AM, but you can't always be looking at the radio dial when your doing other tasks, not all radios have that capability and it's not exactly prudent to look at the dial when you're driving.

Back to the topic of the thread, just learned that Timeless Cool is a syndicated format, but The Avenue might be their only affiliate. Their promo is just under three minutes long and sounds much better (less processed) than their stream.

Yep. That's the sum total of affiliation. The idea is good, but the execution is quite poor.
I just tried to find the "Route 66" format I heard in the Tampa Bay area... Must be locally generated only. Too bad. The music mix was really good! It was somewhere on AM.

The Route 66 format you heard was most likely WSDV- 1450-Sarasota and WDDV 1320-Venice; between the two stations they pretty well cover Englewood to the waterfront (water skip enhanced) in St.Petersburg. There is a mono internet stream, but right now, I don't have the url, will try to post it later.
btw- I just returned from a week in Albany NY and the only Florida station I heard at all was 1660- the Avenue coming in the car radio midway between Hudson NY and downtown Albany and coming in with a very solid signal from about 7:10 - 7:30 then nothing, so I'm assuming the power drop from 10,000 to 1,000 watts was at 7:30pm.

Same here, I was surprised! I've had trouble picking it up in Punta Gorda and North Ft. Myers.

Here is the link for WSDV 1450, both 1450 and 1320 have called themselves "the Dove" in the past and the url still indicates this........... this url is for their home page with a "listen live" (in mono) link on the left hand side.
