I was sorry to discover WAVV discontinued streaming over the internet as they indeed have a very unique sound. "The Avenue", on the other hand, is sounding particularly unique as well.

A station similar to WAVV streams from Corpus Christie, TX. I have heard 89.5 several times by E skip. Seeing what most Google hits point to, I think few callsigns would be worse than KLUX!

Was told that WAVV had to keep costs down...not only closing the Web feed, but also the IBOC.
WAVV & "Clucks" are different animals. KLUX is the more traditional sounding B/EZ one would hear on FMs in the 70s....WAVV has that plus a few lounge-style artists, some quite modern (Buble e.g.)

Has anyone listened to The Avenue 1410/1660 lately? Your thoughts?

As I've already stated, they stream live. Go to: http://www.avenuefla.com/. I have to say that their playlist is interesting. There's an emphasis on jazz with some album cuts thrown in from other similar genres. The oddest thing I heard this network play was "Pride and Joy" by Stevie Ray Vaughn. But that was early on and I'm not so sure that they'd still play it. All in all, I say radio should be more like this! I'd like to see more Americana and AAA stations as well. Even if the stations were on AM, that would be OK, but that's me.

Your thoughts? Avenue's concept reminds me of my very favorite pre-merger XM channel, "Fine Tuning". Similar but different. BTW...their web feed is either processed for AM or awfully high for this platform. I hear pumping.

As I've already stated, they stream live. Go to: http://www.avenuefla.com/. Yes, and thank you for giving the link in your original post. I have listened off-and-on over the past few weeks and like the music mix very much. I was simply asking for other opinions that may agree with or differ from my own. I am curious as to what anyone else may like or dislike about The Avenue. I thank you for your input and brief explanation regarding what you like about the format.

Actually come to think of it, I will complain about something: I wish the DJs would announce the songs either before or after they're played!

There's a similar format around called "Route 66" that is what "The Avenue" wishes it was.

Actually come to think of it, I will complain about something: I wish the DJs would announce the songs either before or after they're played! That was a necessary evil before artist and title fields became standard on all radios.
