Poon get over yourself and listen to something else.  Noone takes you seriously and you can't think that the management will actually take what is said on this site to heart.  No matter who writes it.  WSYB is what it is.

Arnie.. I havn't figured out yet if you work there, have worked there, or you want to work there..Trust me, I usually don't go out of my way to defend these people, but I have to call a spade a spade here.. Since I do punch around the dial in the morning, I did hear a recap on the West Rutland game and local sports from Carleton Laird, (I think). It would be hard for WSYB to carry a West Rutland game at night, since after sunset there is not a listenable signal west of Center Rutland, unless you want to hear co-channel splatter from Naugatuck CT and Portsmouth NH..  You have a couple of options here Arnie Baby.. Call Pam and Al's Dad and make him an offer he can;t refuse, you know what I mean ? You can program WSYB and their other stations as you see fit, or find something else to listen too.. Online.. Dennis and Callahan, Imus, Boomer and Cartin, John Gambling are good listening.  Sounds like you like talk, and "Free Beer and Dead Air" is not your cup of tea. Arnie.. In terms of a news commitment, there hasn't been a full time dedicated news person position for over 15 years, and no owners since have reinstated that position. We all know what happened to the Sports Director's position.. Arnie.. You have to lighten up and let things go.. I hope you are not tuning into 970 waiting for WHWB to come back. Hang in there Arnie and please listen to something else, you'll be glad you did..

Curiously, when did WHWB move to 970 and why?  I'm pretty sure they were still a daytimer after the move.  When did they go dark?

Gadon, here goes......if it's so hard to do a West Rutland game at night, then why bother with a Castleton hockey game AT NIGHT!!  Also, it is good that they had a "recap" of the game, but no coaches comments, no players comments...yet they still bill themselves as VERMONT'S SPORTS LEADER, are they worthy of that?  I know the used to be!  For news, it is true, they've ignored a local news person, but have you heard the news latetly....OH BOY a famous Beatle  once sang....As far as my employment goes, never worked there, never want to, I have a good thing on my late night shift.  And for you BIG BILL, I thank you for your support, keep reading me, everyone else does!

Arnie, all this material has been addressed. I would have no idea why Castleton Night Games would be on that station. At night in Castleton, you are mostly hearing Spanish on 1380 AM, though Spartan Arena is in Rutland and the games DO have appeal outside of the college community.  Aren't those games on NEK Sports.Net as well ? Great people there, including Jack Healey, though poorly promoted in our region to the general public.

"Old Bones".. WHWB went to 970 AM from 1000 AM to gain a longer broadcast day in the late 80's. At 1000 AM, it was truly a sunrise to sunset operation. On 970, HB' gained night power, albeit less than 100 watts, but enough to cover Rutland, Proctor, and West Rutland at night, and in the case of Proctor and West Rutland, better than WSYB since their night time signal is aimed due north east at night. The station went dark for good in the early 90's, and the self standing tower was demolished sometime in 1995. The cement bases are still there. "Con Brio Broadcasting" was the last owner and license holder of WHWB.

so the guy from Davey Crockett dies and the morning show host plays the WHOLE theme song!!  When will someone get this guy to give a damn?  Seriously, the ENTIRE theme song on a news talk station?  Yeah, I know...don't listen if you don't like it...I've heard it all before.  I tune in for the first time in weeks and I get the WHOLE theme song to Davey Crockett!  I am so mad at myself, just trying to think of what else I may have missed by not tuning in!  All kidding aside, the rest of you people on this thread need to stop beating on me, and start listening carefully to what is going on this station, NOTHING!

C'mon, why should we listen?

It's Rutland, VT, fer cryin' out loud, and you've already told us nothing's going on at this station. Frankly, I believe you, but you're beating a dead horse.

Arnie.. Arnie.. Arnie.. My question to you is, what would you like to have happen here ? The morning show there has always been some type of mass appeal general entertainment with some of the entertainers being more entertaining than others.. The Bob Bascom / Jack Healey combination was rather potent combination for it's time, for example. I'm sure that pairing would have done something with the Fess Parker passing as well.. "All News, All the Time, 1010 WINS", WSYB is not.. Arnie, Arnie, Arnie..

So this weekend is opening day in baseball, the NCAA Final Four, and the temps will be at above normal for the weekends, to name a few of things that are hot topics right now, and the morning show host on WSYB bores us by playing 10 minutes of songs about summer!  Get rid of this guy!  You mean to tell me that the morning show host on a TALK station, can't TALK for 10 minutes about a subject?  I didn't realize that WSYB went to ALL OLDIES!  I wonder if the FCC knows about this?

Why would the FCC care? I surely don't. Arnold, why do you keep resurrecting this thread?

Answer me one question....what do YOU want US (the readers of this board) to do about this? We cannot wave magical wands and make this station what you want it to be. I suggest you save your allowance and buy it and run it the way you want to. Until then...let's just say it takes a lot to get me irritated. I know, don't click on the thread if you don't want to read it. Blah-blah-blah.

There is nothing new under the sun.
