A couple of questions
« on: October 14, 2005, 10:37:21 AM »

(1) Are there any other major markets (say top 50) where the AM news, talk and sports stations are as dependent on non-unique programming as here in Atlanta. I include Boortz and Howard in this since they are now syndicated. 640, 680, 750, 920 all seem to be lacking in local original programming. 790 seems to do the best local job of any AM in town.

(2) Speaking of Howard and the "Kimner",how have they not only survived all these years but thrived. Howard seems like a cross between Howdy Doody and Alfred E. Newman. All the "Kimmer" does is giggle, talk about his prostate and say semper fi.

I'll admit I'm new to the area and maybe I have some learning about the market to do.

Check out AM 720... The Voice, that is if you can pick it up where you are. 720 runs Keeping it Real with Uncle Rich and Benji from 7;45 am to 10 am, 85 South with Chris East and Jackie Steele from 10 am to 12pm. Rush from 12 to 3 and The Curt Snider Show from 3 to 6. All these shows with the exception of Rush are all ran out of the studio live, and all focus on local issues, local sports, and local interests. After Curts show ends they usualy play some Atlanta sport broadcast.

I keep reading threads, where people complain about stations not being live, local, or for that matter any good. I consider myself blessed for working at a cluster where we pride ourselves in being both live and local. Magic 98.1, with Heather and Blackstone, Benji Sheppard, Drew Neilson, and Johnny C, all live, all from this area. 720 with those listed above, and AM 1400 with Dusty Rose, news from Jackie Steele, and Cleavo in the mornings.

I'm sure there are plenty of people here that will complain about this cluster, as I have seen it in the past. All I can ask is what more do you want? Our job is to keep you going throughout your day, and keep you listening. Instead of ideas we get complaints. Anyways... as the name puts it, thats just simply my two cents. Enjoy your day folks.
