...(drum roll)...KANY Bigfoot 93.7?

Could be.

http://www.radio-info.com/newsletter/html/tri-02082010.html

Scroll down for the details on Mr. Wolfenbarger's tap dance to get 93.7 and 102.1to swap COLs.

With KGY now investing in its FM (going HD, adding live personalities) we could have an interesting battle shaping up in the South Sound.  Or not.

"96.9 The Sound", sounds like it'll be a great station and format (no pun intended).  Should record the format switch, come May.

I'm surprised that none of the Boffin's on this page didn't pick up on the 'article' from that guy calling HD Radio- "High Definition" radio.  HD radio doesn't stand for High Definition.

Just what the Seattle DMA needs; another rim-shot signal.  So is Seattle aspiring to become San Francisco or Los Angeles?  I for one hopes not.

"The Sound" sounds revolutionary.  Roll Eyes

What stations in NYC and Chicago is this format on? Would they be putting a new name on the "Fresh" format CBS uses in NYC on 102.7 and Chicago at 105.9?

If so, it's not some new European invention. It's a modern "bright" AC. Been done.

To me, the most interesting thing about this is that in order to make it come about, KUBE had to be downgraded to a Class C0!  The application was granted so I guess they were.  I thought they'd move heaven and earth to keep their full C!

I'm wondering what the next frequency people will try to squeeze in, into the Seattle-Tacoma market?  I can only think of 92.1.  It's starting to look like the Los Angeles market here, where there's a station every 2 frequencies on the dial.

I'm surprised YOU didn't pick up on the reason for all this rimshotting:  Money, pure and simple. Mom & pops aren't raking in the dough with dollar-a-holler spots anymore so going big may be the only way to survive and even thrive.

I'm wondering what the next frequency people will try to squeeze in, into the Seattle-Tacoma market?

Probably 96.1 if they can get the bucks together for an upgrade. The station already shows up in the ratings but is unlistenable anywhere north of Federal Way.

Why does KUBE 93 have to downgrade to Class C0?  I don't KMPS have to downgrade from Class C to Class C-0.

Different transmitter sites. KUBE is on Cougar Mountain, considerably closer to the South Sound than KMPS on West Tiger.

KUBE didn't have much choice when it came to taking the C0 "downgrade" - the towers on Cougar aren't tall enough to meet the 450-meter minimum to retain full class C protections, and I believe there are spacing issues that preclude a move of 93.3 to the much higher West Tiger site.

In reality, KUBE doesn't change a thing; it was already a C0 facility in practice.
