"The Groove" has come to Pensacola (and Mobile)
« on: February 26, 2010, 11:43:50 PM »

Yes folks, WYCL/Pensacola is the latest Clear Channel outlet to go the Rhythmic Hot AC route, which took place Friday (February 26th).

BTW here's the website: http://www.1073thegroove.com/main.html

And here is the stream: http://www.1073thegroove.com/cc-common/streaming_new/index.html?refreshed=yes

I like 107.3's new format, even though I'm probably not in the target audience. To me, the station is 'workout radio'. I'm particularly impressed that they aren't so afraid to cross genres (and their respective audiences) for their overall sound.

I've heard songs from Michael Jackson, 50 Cent, OutKast, Gap Band, Snoop Dogg, Prince, and Morris Day & The Time alongside songs from Miley Cyrus, Natasha Bedingfield, N'Sync, Pink, Ke$ha, Daft Punk and Kevin Rudolf. If I've got the count right, that's representation from the hip-hop, R&B/funk, pure pop, pop-rock, and dance worlds.

I don't know what the future holds for WYCL, but they're certainly not the sleepy-sounding AC/classic hits format they just ditched.
