Today I noticed that 1220 AM WPHX in Sanford was back on the air again, simulcasting WFNX in Boston. Anyone know when it came back on?

WPHX-AM was recently purchased by Carl Strube and Pete Falconi's Port Broadcasting. They should close soon and I expect them to run it as the 'Local' station again with their Legends format, but who  knows. Good broadcasters..

Thanks showbiz. Phoenix Media must be getting their last few minutes on in Sanford.

I saw this confirming the sale and suggesting the new WPHX will be "a mix of oldies and adult standards — but won't simulcast." Sounds encouraging!!

Port Broadcasting LLC has assumed operational control of WPHX (now WWSF) with its "Legends" format

Just wanted to add that WWSF-AM (formerly WPHX-AM) has a website now. 1220thelegends.com. The website mentions that this summer they will broadcast Sanford Mainers away games. It's nice to see a locally based radio station.
