World's shortest song tiotle

The controversy over the world's shortest song will go on and on.

That said, I'll proffer what is without a doubt and without controversy - THE WORLD'S SHORTEST SONG TITLE...

Are you ready for this?

Here it is:

"I" - The Velvets

"I" was recorded by The Velvets, a teenage group from Harlem, and was originally released on the Red Robin label (#122) in November 1953.  It was re-released on the Pilgrim label (#706) in May 1956.

Thank you all and I'll now go back to my chores.   Cool

S.O.D. put out a song called "The Ballad Of Jimi Hendrix" (which started with the opening riff of "Purple Haze" followed by the vocalist, Billy Milano shouting "YOU'RE DEAD!" (4 seconds) From their low-fi 1985 politically incorrect thrash metal classic Speak English Or Die.

But the track that follows on the album, "Diamonds And Rust," is even shorter.

The lyrics: "Diamonds... And rust!" (Fin)

Now, in terms of modern radio airplay, the shortest songs I have heard often have been The Foo Fighters' "Big Me," which is 2:08, IINM. Del Amitri's "Roll To Me," an AC stalwart, also clocks in at about two minutes.

"Song #2" by Blur was another one.

Shortest song, or shortest song title?

Shortest songs, in terms of content, not time:

"Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2" Pink Floyd
"Cars," Gary Numan

Both of these have just two verses (just one verse repeating in the case of the Floyd), followed by mostly instrumental filler to fadeout.  Can't knock it, though!  They were both big hits!

Yes, because Gary Numan was lucky to be heavily involved in a style of music that was huge with the use of the Synthesizer when anything Synthesizer seemed to be the in thing.

I suppose you could consider "I (Who Have Nothing)" by Ben E. King if you drop the parenthetical material.

It would have been interesting if the group Q (remember "Dancin' Man" in 1977?) or M (of "Pop Muzik" fame) had ever covered "I."  Grin
