When Will The Wilmington Market start HD Radio
« on: April 09, 2010, 07:17:35 AM »

I know Whqr has hd but it is also government funded. When will the media companies in this town get on board?

I thought by now Cumulus Media would have been on board, and Sunrise Broadcasting would follow suit, but putting a HD signal on the air is expensive, and with the state of shape radio is in, don't look for anyone to do this in Wilmington anytime
soon.

You are probably right, but one thing that could help stations in "HD" is putting a existing AM on one of there channels, i can think of two in Wilmington that would fit here, WMFD & WAAV, WMFD could go on 107.5 HD-2, and WAAV at 102.7 HD-2, one
is 75,000 watts and the other 100,000 watts, both have good coverage areas, but because many don't have HD radios, this
might be a waste of time, i know both of them would like to return on FM, but it's something i'm sure would be considered
down the road.
