Well you know im going to have to call you out on big ideas...why don't you post that question up in "off the air" and lets have a discussion on that one....me thinks that will be entertaining

going foward on the discourse...its absolutely important that there are a multitude of voices available to explore, discuss, challenge, and dissent...
earlier today i quoted the PEW research (again) on where people get their news...as long as talk radio is a key source, there will be a need for progressives/liberals to get their message out just like the conservatives....
IMHO, I am still hoping people will be more informed and use the readily available tools to explore more than one source...or just listen to your favorite broadcaster....being informed will make one seek the truth

i agree, because S. Ohio/N. Kentucky is tough ground if you are center-left or left-leaning. Im curious to see how the station in Missoula is doing as well..but it has the rocket boost of a well respected dem governor in Montana..so the ears might be a bit more ready to hear something different.

I posted this several months ago..but I wont be comfortable until people in an area of Louisiana I went to school in can listen to AAR or Democracy Now or independent liberal/progressive radio. Thats when I will feel like we made it.

It would...it really would....my letters go ignored so far....we tried to see if the station wanted the listeners to do a protest, but they thought it was not in their best interest ....personally i thought it might have been a good idea..but why take the risk if they ask us not to...

Al Franken is scheduling a visit to boston in the next month. If the management were smart it might be good to take him on an unofficial "visit" to Newton city hall....LOL

The people at WKOX (via their own discussion board on their website) have indicated that they feel the upgrade is a done deal. They don't have discussion archives I could easily find with a link to the program manager's comment on this. He is either out of the loop (maybe) or the station's upgrade is on the way (maybe next year). Having Al show up is maybe a sign they aren't going to drop anytime soon- but they don't invest anything in sales so you have to listen to those godforesaken PSA's where the local ad spots would be. I listened to AAR's Majority Report recently and the AAR internet feed has very few PSA's, especially compared to WKOX playing Stephanie Miller.

The discussion board at WKOX is pretty busy with Ed bashing (I agree but don't join in) and complaints about the signal. I can get it (with some static) in southern New Hampshire on a good (for AM radio) day.

Imus, Miller, Schultz & Lionel "non-existant" in Wash D.C.

"Err Amerika's ratings?"  Here's the lineup on WWRC:
Imus, Miller, Franken, Schultz, Rhodes (2 hrs.),Majority Report (2hrs.), and Lionel (3 hrs.).

In other words, in the prime listening hours, 6am to 6pm, there's exactly one Air America show and nine hours of programming from other sources.

Overall, Air America provides only seven hours of programming in the 19 hours from 6am to 1am.

Maybe WWRC would do better if it actually took most of its programming from Air America (although most people in the market can't even pick up this weak Maryland signal).
