If they can't do that, they should put on (AC-Dial-Global) format. If they want to put Continuous Music and maybe put on David O'Leary on weeknights at 6pm-9pm, then put on (AC-Dial-Global) let them do that. Also put on (AC-Dial-Global) overnights and weekends Noon-7pm, on weekend mornings and weekend nights put on some Syndicated Urban AC Shows on such as "The Countdown" with Walt Baby Love.
I'm sure this will work. If you program it the right way, and have the right radio announcers on and some good programming, I'm sure it will work. I mean, look how long Magic 106.7 lasted all these years.
Most states, when you look up the ratings, one of the formats that are mostly always in the top three are most of the time the AC Format
That's why this is my idea, if (like you all say Urban AC Station wouldn't work) than at least get an AC station, that can focus on more new AC Music, New Urban AC Music, New Country Love Songs Music, and New Soft Dance Music.
And call it Huh "Soft 92.9"
It's 2010, Radio Program Management has to do something. Try something different and new.
If 92.9 can't do it, then let 93.7 do it and have 93.7 get a better signal inside Boston. One of these stations have to do something different.
I'd say 92.9 is the best one because of their best signal throughout the whole city of Boston. Radio Program Management has to do something

Mike has to stay how it is, how is WAAF doing with their improved signal? I am sure that they are able to market the station better saying that they now have an an official Boston presence.

With that said,  97.7 could return to an R&B based format.

If coverage is a concern for the area, then move WBOS to say 96.9 and start an R&B format on 92.9 instead. Just an idea. I am saying this too because lets face it, 92.9 doesn't come in so well were people who would tend to listen to it most are. And 96.9 has a fantastic signal too, reaching the areas where people who would listen could.

that's all good.
Don't get me wrong also. I also listen to 93.7 Mike FM. That's one of a few stations I listen to, they do have a pretty good variety as they do say. but it's not everything I would like to hear, for me, it's just ok for something different
Yeah, you have a good idea.
All 97.7 has to do is get a better signal inside and outside Boston. It comes in ok in Revere where I stay with my Uncle a lot, but as I go more west Sagus, Malden (I listen by walkman) It doesn't come in good on a walkman (any walkman I use, new and old) It comes in, but not too good, it's still listenable. These are the same in Salem, Ma where I live. 97.7 does not come in inside Boston (Chelsea, Charlstown, North End, Downtown Boston area, Comm Ave, Brighton, Allston, Brookline, Southend, South Boston, and parts of Roxbury. It does come in in parts of Dorchester (Fields Corner going towards Ashmont, and Mattapan South it comes in perfect) All they have to do is get a better signal inside Boston so all these cities can get it better. It doesn't come in good in Swampscott where I visit my twin sister These are when I listen on a walkman, any walkman.
All they have to do is get a better signal inside Boston so (EVERYBODY IN THIS PART OF BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS [INSIDE AND OUTSIDE BOSTON] CAN LISTEN
Even if they can not get an Urban AC station, they should at least make it an AC station and focus more on
NEW AC, NEW Urban AC, New Country Music Love Songs, and NEW Soft Dance Music, maybe call it something like "Soft 97.7" or "Lite 97.7"
If they can put it on 96.9 and or 92.9, it'd be better, becuse of their best signal inside and outside Boston
Radio Program Management has to do something
Thank you for the ideas @Retro

Funny how posts magically disappear! Censored again,
in the name of political correctness. The FACTS
are no legitimate station wants to do this format. It
has been tried before, and it does not work here.
Case closed.

It is 2010 now, that was before. This is now. If they program it right, put the right music, and put on the best radio hosts, this will work. There's a lot of different (good) quality programming out there now, that there wasn't on back then (example: "Hollywood Confidential", and "Sol Kafe")
This can happen!
