WRTO AM 1200???
« on: August 28, 2010, 12:38:12 AM »

Does anyone know what is going on at this place? They are running IBOC at night,
from the new towers. and horribly loud, over-processed audio during the day without
IBOC.

When they power down at sunset, the difference is night and day(no pun intended). The audio
goes from so loud to the point that it's sounds like it's about to blow the speakers out, to
so much self interference that you can barely make out the voices. It would be like turning
the volume on the radio from 10 down to 1.

The hash on the sidebands are louder than I've heard them. Even without the IBOC during
the day, they're stepping on WYLL at 1160 and local 1230 and 1240.

If it's that bad without IBOC, what in God's name will this be like "when" they flip the IBOC
back on during the day.

Univision, please listen to your station, it's brand new site, and it sounds worse than anything
I've ever heard on radio, it's a disgrace to your company and an insult to your listeners.

They need to turn off the IBOC and leave it off at all times. I don't live in the Chicago area, as I have started to hear the hissing noise on 1200 at night in VA. And probably the hiss on 1900 mixed in with a NYC station.

I may be wrong about the hiss on 1200; the change in transmitting at night by WRTO may be leading to WPHT 1210's hiss louder.

No hissing on the 5 allocations from 1180-1220 this Sunday morning in Chicago.
Just regular, normal, and proper modulation.
One of the "best features" of iboc is you can't quite always figure out who is responsible for the pollution.
Like when in an elevator, and someone's methane production gets "out of regulation".
No one knows WHO did it, but everyone knows SOMEone did it.
