The Cumulus CHR station where I am only has one DJ and thats during day parts. No morning show just music, and at night Billy Bush syndicated show. Now thats cheap.
And they compete with a CHR in the market who has Kidd Kraddick mornings, 4 djs plus a dj who mixs on Saturday night with a 100,000 watt C1 signal.

Some ideas for Q100...
1. They need to get rid of the dayparting or at least remove the songs that make no sense. In place of the dayparting, they should really move Billy Bush to 10am - 2pm. It's a syndicated talk show similar to Ryan Seacrest and it might help them attract the "at work" crowd without having to change the music up so much.
2. Bump Brittany to 2 - 6pm and Johnny O to the new night guy from 6 - 11pm. Let them have more personality and come up with things to say instead of "Artist Song Title" and that's it. Get a countdown back and give away a prize if a listener calls in and gets it right. This is also a good time to introduce new music.
3. Use the jingles more often! They still sound really good. Instead of a male voiceover just shouting "Q100!" in between what seems like each song, get more creative with the sweepers. It doesn't take much and they already have some... for example, "(male) All the hits... (female) Q100" and vice versa. They could even do "The only Atlanta area station playing All The Hits... Q100". They need to be using the "All The Hits" phrase as much as they can.
That's it.

Just wondering which market you're in? And yeah maybe it's just a Cumulus thing (I guess just with their CHRs) - IMO we should ask the people on the Houston board if they have the same problem with the DJs on KRBE

Myrtle Beach, SC market where Cumulus owns the CHR i 100. 100.3 in the market used to be CHR as Hot 100 (which didn't terrible in the ratings) then flipped to Rhythmic/CHR as Power 100.3 (ratings improved much) but early this early Cumulus decided to combine the Urban AC and Rhythmic/CHR into a Urban. Go check out the South Carolina board if you like.

I would love for someone at Q100 to explain to me how, during their little dayparting experiment, songs like Smashing Pumpkins - 1979, Crazy Town - Butterfly, Train - Drops of Jupiter, Coldplay - Speed of Sound and Clocks, Vertical Horizon - Everything You Want, etc. fit into their "pop/rock" sound?
Wouldn't songs like Blink 182 - All The Small Things, Panic At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies, Evanescence - Bring Me To Life, The Ready Set - Love Like Woe, Sara Bareilles - King of Anything, Coldplay - Vida La Vida, Beyonce - Irreplaceable, Britney Spears - Toxic, Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body, etc. be a better fit for the "pop/rock sound they are going for during the day? All of these songs are CHR friendly... the songs they are currently mixing in are not and make no sense.
I just don't understand how Q100 operates. They are incredibly cheap and I think they are smoking crack when they put together their playlist...

Someone needs a nap. Since you have no interest in this subject, I'd appreciate it if you kept your d-bag comments to yourself.

I actually have a great deal of interest in the subject. It's just your same song/same verse over and over is burned out. Bring something new to the table and I bet you can get an interesting thread started. Take a lesson from KDM. When he stopped complaining about everything and started expressing different viewpoints, his stature and comments become something fun and interesting to read.
Or don't. Your call. But everytime you repeat your same complaint, I'm going to call you out. Seems only fair.

Not sure what you mean - all those songs are pop/rock

Everyone of those bands except for Train are not pop/rock... especially Smashing Pumpkins...
