Cox Has Got To Be Happy

Its AM/FM simulcast exploded 4.2 to 8.2 6+ in the Atlanta October PPMs....would they be even happier with an Orlando simulcast of WDBO?  We'll see...

I too am looking forward to see if Cox will go this route in Orlando, News/Talk on FM nationally seems for the most part to be doing well, maybe not in all locale's but some of the result's I see look favorable, and in my opinion I think it's time to give it a shot in Orlando....

But which one of their Orlando FM's, not a lot of option's to choose from if their "Happy" with the number's currently being seen locally on their FM's now, but your right we shall see.....

Well, if they were super committed to this, maybe they wouldn't flip a station like in ATL but rather BUY a station like in JAX.

Then again, is anyone selling and if so-- for the right price and is it the right stick?

WOKV-FM is a Class A but it's right in the Southside so it covers most of the city just fine-- and that's all they really need.

Coverage in Nassau County and parts of Saint Johns and Clay is pretty weak-- but that's not the main focus.

Seems everyone misses one important metric about the AM/FM Pre-Simulcasts ratings....

Jacksonville Spring 2006 12+
WOKV-AM 3rd

Tulsa Fall 2008 12+
KRMG-AM 1st

Atlanta July 2010 12+
WSB-AM  3rd

Orlando Sep 2010 12+
WDBO-AM  13th

Randy, I can find a 12+ better number for WDBO and nummers that show the other stations outside of the top 5... I'll bet if you spoke to each of those sales managers they will paint a different picture

Sorry, but the number is the number and the only way to find a better 12+ is to make it up. And in the just released October 2010 monthly (released today at Noon), WDBO is again 13th place 12+.

Of course the rank might have varied in a few positions in full books prior to simulcast -however, I USED THE BOOK PRECEEDING THE DECISION TO SIMULCAST THE AM ON FM, which is the only relevant number.

And besides, so what if WOKV-AM or WSB-AM was #6 or #7 in some Book prior to simulcast? 13 != 6

Clearly, you missed the entire point of the post.

I'd dump the classic rock format on WHTQ, move "Power", WPYO, to 96.5 and put the news/talk WDBO simulcast on 95.3.

Really not seeing how an FM simulcast would or could help WDBO right now, with numbers like that.

What a great idea! Blow up a station Top 5 Men 25-54 and replace it with a station that is #13 Men 25-54. I'm sure they will get right on that....

Considering that the FM simulcast in Atlanta is a rimshot and doubled WSB's audience (the cume doubled as well) it's plausible they could do exactly that. 95.3 in mono would get out a bit better than now and completely cover the orlando metro. PYO on 96.5 could only do better.
