WUCI replica Coming on in Binghamton??
« on: November 04, 2010, 12:58:42 PM »

I received a phone call late last night from an old friend of mine that says there's a new station coming on in Binghamton that will replicate the old WUCI. Any information would be great!

I've searched for commercial and educational station applications and construction permits in the FCC database, and I don't see any near Binghamton.

I did not search LPFM applications.

Did your friend give any details?

Could it be one of the applicants for the non-com 93.3? Licensed to Susq.

Good catch. I didn't think to check Pennsylvania applications.
I see there are 6 applicants for 93.3 in Susquehanna: Calvary Chapel, Davis College, Broome County Urban League, Redeemer Broadcasting, JCM Radio of NY, and Montrose Broadcasting.

That would be good news, would love to come back to binghamton, and be apart, I was with Wuci from the very beginning to the very end, worked in every location and aspect of Uhuru Communications.
I'm known as the voice of the peoples choice Dj Doc Sly, Music Director, Production Director, On Air Talent.
I would love for there to be a reunion.

Reporter can your old friend contact me?

Speaking of WUCI, do any of you WUCI alums have any airchecks or photos that I can add to BinghamtonRadio.com ? I don't have any WUCI stuff on there at all.

93.3 Susquehanna PA was awarded to The Broome County Urban League; the call sign is WJOB-FM

No past airchecks here, I wish! But the best memory for me personally was when I did the am show. I had to do laundry, so I went to the laundry mat near my apartment. I'm 1/2 hour done and in walks this young lady with her boom box and cassette tapes. I'm not really paying too much attention, but then I'm hearing the WUCI promos and I heard she recorded MY am show! Very cool.

Merry Christmas all !
