Even ABC doesn't want Monday Night Football, that's why they pushed it off onto ESPN.
Interesting. Can't help but think the decision on this was made in New York. ABC got rid of MNF because the ratings were falling, outside the markets of the teams playing each week. So Disney's thinking was move it to ESPN, so the national rating doesn't hurt abc, but still keep (atleast for the O&O's) the high ratings the teams playing bring to whatever city. Thus Philadelphia, NY, and other ABC O&O markets would still get the 2 or 3 great MNF ratings a year, but lose out on the other 14 or so average games.
BTW its kinda werid seeing both ch6 & ch10 promoting PHL17 programing (ch10 just the game itself, no pregame). I wonder if this is a sign of things to come for MYPHL17. Not sure when their current deal with nbc10 ends, but I could see them dumping that (and in return NBC10 moving its 10:00Pm broadcast to nonstop) for Action News at 10:00 which would instantly double ratings (might even beat FOX)...assuming ch6 wants to get in the whole 10:00 broadcast.
