RIP Funky Monkey. 1999-2010. I heard about this only 7 mins before the flip. They started playing the classic 'we're going away songs' like..

End of the World
Closing Time

and at 12:00pm they started with C&C music factory. I'm sure the few rock fans who listened died a little at noon.

anyone have an idea if on-air staff will still be around?

Could THIS be where Bob Rivers is headed? Could cheap channel afford him?

If nobody's listening to a station and it changes format - does anyone care?

I'd say absolutely no chance of Rivers working on a rimshot signal.

I know a great place where all those disgruntled Rockers can go and stream rock music until the cows come home... I think we shall become the official unofficial home for all wayward listeners & talent fed up with the system...

Do you know if veteran programmer Bob Case is running the station? He had programmed KUBE 93 in the 80's & 90's & also programmed 95.7 while they were a jammin oldies station from 2001-02.

Bob now works for CC in a corporate position out of Atlanta.

The question on everybody's mind should be why did two clusters change their stations' format all in the same week? KFNK (CC) and KVI (Fisher). Is this a coincidence? Nobody is saying anything about this......

Good point Steve, What is the strategic point behind both of these moves?

Is CC trying to take a point or so away from someone else?  Who would that be with this format?

Clearly KVI is not going to be able to "cut costs" and run a "live and local" oldies station.  How would that ever be cheaper than a station with one local show and satellite the rest of the day?

How is it that Tom Huytler, Ric Hanson, and Mark Christopher are cheaper than Suits alone?

What hole in the market do they hope to exploit with this format on an AM if it is not just about cutting costs?  Are they trying to steal a point from KJR FM?  How would that benefit Fisher?  Star is already #1 and they have nothing else in that game.

Wondering minds want to know.
