Good point Steve, What is the strategic point behind both of these moves?
Is CC trying to take a point or so away from someone else? Who would that be with this format?
Clearly KVI is not going to be able to "cut costs" and run a "live and local" oldies station. How would that ever be cheaper than a station with one local show and satellite the rest of the day?
How is it that Tom Huytler, Ric Hanson, and Mark Christopher are cheaper than Suits alone?
What hole in the market do they hope to exploit with this format on an AM if it is not just about cutting costs? Are they trying to steal a point from KJR FM? How would that benefit Fisher? Star is already #1 and they have nothing else in that game.
Wondering minds want to know.
Clearly with 104.9 CC is looking to get the Monkey off their back and get anybody listening to that signal no place to really go but up there. Talk and Rock are not exactly driving PPM's crazy these days.
Other than slashing talent Entercom hasn't really done much to get a dog in the fight with KJAQ, KJR and the Adult/Classic hits crowd. Do either KISW or KNDD gain anything from CC putting the Monkey to sleep?
Rock is becoming an endangered species in this market...
