Yes, exactly. If Fisher (KVI) knew that KMCQ's oldies format wasn't long for this world, then they would, or course flip to Oldies. So either they are taking KMCQ or, my hunch is that another cluster is taking KMCQ. Either way I think two flips in one week means KMCQ has a buyer.

 Cool

Move 104.9 to 104.5 and divest the Eatonville station. From day one I said this came from CC special opps directorate.

Is that crazy?

Good point Steve, What is the strategic point behind both of these moves?

Is CC trying to take a point or so away from someone else?  Who would that be with this format?

Clearly KVI is not going to be able to "cut costs" and run a "live and local" oldies station.  How would that ever be cheaper than a station with one local show and satellite the rest of the day?

How is it that Tom Huytler, Ric Hanson, and Mark Christopher are cheaper than Suits alone?

What hole in the market do they hope to exploit with this format on an AM if it is not just about cutting costs?  Are they trying to steal a point from KJR FM?  How would that benefit Fisher?  Star is already #1 and they have nothing else in that game.

Wondering minds want to know.

Clearly with 104.9 CC is looking to get the Monkey off their back and get anybody listening to that signal no place to really go but up there. Talk and Rock are not exactly driving PPM's crazy these days.

Other than slashing talent Entercom hasn't really done much to get a dog in the fight with KJAQ, KJR and the Adult/Classic hits crowd. Do either KISW or KNDD gain anything from CC putting the Monkey to sleep?

Rock is becoming an endangered species in this market...

KFNK was that lovable underdog, the kind of station you knew was doomed from the beginning, but you still couldn't fault them too much. And they also played a lot of current local rock and that's what is going to hurt the most; another radio outlet for it gone.

It was only a matter of time before we wound up with a '90s oldies station, which is what GenX 104.9 is pretty much. It has enough appeal commercially, but the signal on 104.9 isn't exactly the greatest.

Is 104.5 being bought by Clear Channel? I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me if they put GenX on 104.5 if they did and Spanish on 104.9........

Voice tracking by existing or PT talent is the way to cut costs.  And I'd be willing to bet several PT employees equal less than one FT talk show host.

Really!  Care to share some examples of that in other markets too?

The question on everybody's mind should be why did two clusters change their stations' format all in the same week? KFNK (CC) and KVI (Fisher). Is this a coincidence? Nobody is saying anything about this......

I'd say you've been hitting the RF a little too hard lately.

Two unrelated format changes. "Gen-X" is 2010's format du jour & CC's been rolling it out on its underperforming properties. Who known when KVI decided to blow up the station - it could have happened over lunch two weeks ago at Sport Restaurant.

And no, 104.9 isn't moving down .4 MHz and the "CC special opps directorate" (whatever the f&#k that is) wasn't involved.

That sure looks like a quote from you, isn't it?

Again, care to site examples?  You can stand by whatever you want, but what do you base it on?

Seattle can't handle one hard rock station (kisw doesn't count) but can have 3 country and 4 old / classic stations.  Whatever... I now have 2 empties on my presets.

I don't if Gen-X's format is better or compared than the failed K-Rock 96.5 format from 2003-05 before Jack? Am I right?
