CFTO has new website
« on: November 01, 2005, 07:44:33 PM »

CFTO's now got a decent website up and running at toronto.ctv.ca - even has some history about the station with a couple old photos.

While the "Station History" section does mention "CFTO-TV", it appears that's the only section of the website that does.

Everything else on that website screams "CTV Toronto"!

I think they want you to forget CFTO and think CTV Toronto. And Heaven help you if you say "Channel 9".

I don't know about the last point - contest regulations for their contests posted on the CTV website usually say something like the following:

"Watch CTV Toronto (channel 9, cable 8 or the local satellite or cable channel in your area)"

Plus, they still mention channel 9 at signoff.

I remember when "CFTO, Channel 9; in Toronto, Cable 8" was all they needed.

But do they mention "CFTO"? If not, they're breaking the law regarding calls at sign on and sign off.

They're breaking the law, but the CRTC or Industry Canada won't care, because it's CTV.  "Let them do what they want" likely prevails.
