There is only one good Geico commercial with a great "gotcha" hook and it is this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lomy7xAVDKE

I was fooled and was pissed it was only an ad.
Then I Cheesy

That is my favorite commercial ever.

Guy: "You are so awesome"
Guy: "This is kind of awesome"
Girl: "This is not awesome"

Funniest to me? Where the gecko and the boss are comparing ringtones on their cell phones. "Ringety-ding-ding-ding-dong" has to be the worst ringtone of all time (so of course I have it on my phone  Cheesy).

Second funniest is R. Lee Ermey and the "jackwagon" therapist.

Seems like GEICO has three or four commercial "themes" and by rotating them they never get stale. Smart marketing. Anyone can say, "15 minutes can save you 15 percent or more," and, "So easy a caveman could do it," and think of the same company.

And I can't stand Progressive's Flo, either.

And yet, magically, DC Douglas, whom Geico supposedly washed their hands of after leaving antagonistic messages on a Tea Party figure's answering machine, can still be heard in the tag of each and every commercial. Radio, too. I guess it's a contract thing...

Are you kidding?  Flo is hot!

And the State Farm spot that has the couple arguing over the man backing the car up over another one is good.  His "new" girlfriend is fine!

The State Farm ads with the agents 'magically' appearing are funnier than that overly-smarmy/happy guy giving the sales pitch accompanied by that obnoxious whistling.

Farmers' Insurance commercials are the worst!  "We are Farmers!  BUM-BA-BUM-BUM-BUM!"  What, they can't afford MUSIC for their jingle?  I'll take whistling over that (although the whistling commercial is played too much!) any day!

And yeah, Flo is hot!

Sure beats another dime-a-dozen spot using (or abusing) a classic hit for their own gain...

I do wish GEICO would retire that stupid gecko.

Most of you already know my thoughts about that stupid ditzy spokeswoman for that other auto insurance company...

Oh C'mon? The Pissed off Cavemen were the best ever! Only Cavemen would be pissed off that they're being used to sell insurance.

As for Flo? I LOVE Flo!!!!

YEAH Flo's hot, but insurance should be something that is sold because you DO need it, not because sex(y) sells!  Cool

I agree. I notice the overly-smarmy, happy sales pitch guy ads are being played more and more which is not good at all.

The problem I have with the Progressive insurance commercials is seeing the white background all the time. It's more annoying than Flo could ever be. The only time that style should ever be used in media is that if the character has died/passed on to the other side or as an alternate dimension in some sci-fi show.
