In the Monmouth Ocean ratings released yesterday, Thunder Country was #5 among all stations. They were tied for #2 with WJLK among those broadcasting music.
Question: Is this a measurement of Thunder Country's ratings, or the CHR that was previously on 106.3

I believe it was probaly based on their 98.5 reading.  WHTG shows a flat 0 and WBBO shows a 0.6, which that may be the previous number for 106.3.  Looks like there is no love for the B coming back, or Monmouth/Ocean Top 40 fans depend on NYC and Philly.  I am questioned regarding Greater Media's book on how The Rat gets slashed in half, but "Magically" increased for 100.1.  But still number 1...NJ 101.5.

Even though I was a big G Rock fan and really disappointed to see it go, I can't argue against the move to put Thunder on 106.3 & 106.5. However, it's worth noting that it got the same market share that it received in the previous book ... only back then, it was on one frequency. That has to be considered something of a disappointment, because I'm sure Press was expecting a solid 5 or greater once the Monmouth audience was factored in. Nevertheless, it's quite an improvement over the anemic Hit 106 ratings.

B98.5, as expected, made a great big belly flop. I mean, they were topped (or close to being topped) by a number of Philly stations, which seldom ever happens in this market! It's going to take more than a name to get people to listen when there's at least half a dozen identical stations that come in loud and clear. Fact is, no one knows who most of these people are (since Press brought no one who worked at B from 1997-2005 on board), and Pork Roll & Eggs are nowhere near as appealing as their namesake ... actually, quite the opposite. All these ratings prove are that we have more than enough Top 40 stations in the area. Here's to hoping the notoriously impulsive Press drops it to fill a format void in the area: News/Talk (you know, real news & talk, not the Jersey Shore and similar fluff they talk about on NJ 101.5), an '80s/'90s "Generation X" format, Urban/Urban Ac, or even a return to Alternative (though I would much rather see one of their competitors try it).

WRAT is just too old and stodgy musically. They play way too much classic rock. The key for them to pull a stronger ratings share is to tweak from Mainstream to Active Rock. With all the other stations around that play classic rock exclusively, I think they would benefit from changing things up a bit.

Despite an uptick, Magic 100.1 is still well below the ratings its predecessor pulled. Greater Media should just give up on it and return to what they were doing before.

Finally, 105.7 The Hawk must bill pretty well somehow despite lackluster ratings. They have one of the strongest frequencies in the market, yet have never been able to ascend far beyond their current level. They're clearly getting roughed up by the competition, but Millennium is sticking with it. Unless the ad money is there, I know that a number of formats can approve upon where they are now in terms of listenership.

98.5 The Beat anyone   Hey, that MTV show is hot, why not flip to dance?...oh wait...Wild 102.7 comes in Southern Ocean...and there's one in Monmouth *cough cough* Well, we know for a fact Alternative will never return from Press, but I'm with you on the Gen X format, will deff bring back some classic B98.5 feels, musicwise.

WKMK is a very interesting country station, IMHO.
They play a lot of good songs that other country stations either do not touch, or finally air weeks later.
PD Captain Jack mentions in the newsletter from Radio Info called Stark Country, " I find that it is not acceptable for us to play just the tried and true, but to give more variety and introduce them to new artists constantly. Keep in mind that country music fans are the most informed listeners.
I pride our station in being on the cutting edge of country music, and giving the listeners the chance to be the judge and jury."

B98.5 sounded decent right after their "relaunch" playing some deeper dance stuff along with the flashbacks, but now they just sounded like a run of the mill CHR. Which will be a huge mistake since most ppl can hear the same music on at least 4 other stations. It really is a shame because B was sounding real good, now they sound more boring than Hit 106 (they want to sound like 'JLK apparently).

They had the formula right in the weeks after their relaunch, but apparently Press had to mess with a good thing and removed alot of the dance oriented tracks. I have a feeling this station wont be kept around for that much longer, Press hasn't even set up a B98.5 webpage yet, and is still hosted at www.hit106.com.
I usually wind up changing the station after I hear B play lame stuff like "King of Anything",etc. I miss those flashbacks too, playing those old school songs like Captain Hollywood's "More and More".
I think they'd get better ratings putting the Wild format on there, the 98.5 signal is better than 102.7, which barely covers all of Atlantic County.
I just dont get these ppl, why play the same stuff you can hear on 92.3, 94.3, 95.1, 100.3, 102.1,etc,etc,etc
Press needs to drop the "King of Anything" elevator music and focus on the "Takeover Control", "Like a G6", and "Stereo Love" stuff.

I noticed no more mixshows on late nights on weekends..and if so, it comes like once a month.  The free ride with Prime however is still on.  I guess I was too hardcore for them when I was guest DJing

Did anyone else notice they were playing all the up-tempo songs when they first signed on now they are playing more and more slower songs,they get your attention and them they hit you with slow music.If they are going to do radio they should KEEP OUT THE SLOW CRAP!
Sounded like a great station when it was launched!Hope they read this board.....yeah....wishfully thinking.
