Software Equiv Of Barix?
« on: January 13, 2011, 06:21:33 PM »

I've used ventrilo before for small remote broadcasts using only my voice, now I'm looking for a solution to transmit full audio one way to a remote site including music.

Is there software that exists for this?  I was hoping for something that could either send PCM like a Barix, or lossless FLAC (a dream).  If not I was thinking a private mp3 stream encoded using LAME at 640kbps would sound as good.

If you have some $$$ to spend, then AudioTX is a well-used bit of kit this side of the pond - It'll do PCM as well as MP2 at a variety of bit-rates.  If a varied latency isn't an issue, then why not use a streaming app?

I'm probably going to end up using a streaming app, because AudioTX is way overpriced.  There was another paid piece of software that was more reasonable but I can't find it now Sad

Check the second post.  But it looks like that product is no longer available.

Oh, there's also the Airlink STL program which is WMA-based. http://www.raduga.net/airlink.htm

Woah APTX and PCM for ~$300 not bad!  Audio Compass has added a lot of great features since I last looked at it.

If you sign up for a shoutcast server (or roll your own) you can use Winamp and Shoutcast encoder-and its free.
