Question....

Every so often I'll see on a job description for an MCO position something along the lines of:  "Certification as a Broadcast Engineer by the Society of Broadcast Engineers is desirable."  Can anyone shed any light on what exactly that certification is?  

Last October when I was hired as an MCO I wasn't required to have any certification or anything like that so I'm curious as to what it is.  I've seen this both just browsing around and on internal postings for other stations in our group.

I believe it's the CTO certification.  Check out the SBE website.

It's an operator certification as opposed to an engineering certification.

Right but they are looking more a long the times (well some are) as either
CEV (Certified Video Engineer) or CBTE (Certified Broadcast Television Engineer).

For Master Control?  Seems like overkill to me...
