Will Sumner - Tracks
« on: March 06, 2011, 08:11:20 PM »

I really have to laugh at these posts concerning "Smooth AC"....ain't much different than any mediocre "lite" format out there IMO...

Any true smooth jazz/NAC listeners....take a listen to Will Sumner's latest CD "Tracks".

What can I say?  Might be the first CD I have downloaded the first 5 tracks off of....

Truly a sensational work of art...such a breath of fresh air...I'm really shocked at all of the bellyaching out there concerning this format...CD's like this one make me realize this format has sooooooo much more to offer...

Seriously...you "fans" of Smooth Jazz"....who cares about terrestrial?  Can't you tune into your own PC or a smartphone and listen to wonderful programming like Ted Hasiuk's "Cafe Jazz" who have highlighted this wonderful CD for the last several months???
What a treat.  Listen to cuts like "The Lake" or "Pura Vida"...tunes that are fresh yet take you on a journey back to those sensational days of NAC...really a retro feel but so great and new sounding I cannot put this into words!

Possibly the best CD of the past decade.

And you guys cry about flips and whatever.  Get a grip my friends!!

Do me a favor and spend 99 cents on one of these downloads.  You'll never go back to terrestrial, believe me.

You are spot on this one Majaman.  I am wearing the first track out and plan on having a lot of fun with the whole cd.  Will is a nice guy that is truly humbled by any airplay he is getting.

Wow, thanks for the tip! I listened to some samples on Amazon and I'll be purchasing when I get home tonight. Sounds like he's true to the roots of the format. I really like it.

No sense me repeating what has already been said.  This is a tremendous project from another artist who is by no means a household name.  You won't hear him played on BA, and he won't be in the talent lineup for those overpriced Smooth Jazz cruises (who have the same old, same old, OVER and OVER again).  But this doesn't make him any less a talent.  What guys like Will and other lesser known artists need is airplay.  Without airplay, there is no conversation like we are having now.  No airplay + no conversation = another great effort that goes by unnoticed, making it all the more difficult for the artist to sell CDs and digital downloads.  Snatch this one up.  It is a treasure in the "neo-NAC" sense. Looks like Will's track "The Lake" has been picked up by The Weather Channel for evening "Local On The 8's" segments during March.

Here's a nice long sample

I Love this CD. Go back and check out the song Deside Mi Corazon from the CD of the same title. It came out in 2000 and I was in love with that song and still am..it sounds just as fresh as it did then. On amazon and iTunes

Don't mis track 1 - Samba at the Six. The promoter sent out two mellower songs but this is uptempo, melodic, accessible, and substantial. Look where the relaxation mandate got us Sad  this is the kind of song that can open it up to more tempo and a brighter sound

Another outstanding cut I recently tracked down from Will off of the Desde Mi Corazon CD is "Dangerous Ground".

Great straight ahead melodic uptempo tune that I can just picture myself cruising down Highway 1 in CA with the top down. Cheesy

Problem is now all I need to get is a convertible and move to CA (but it would work driving down A1A in FL as well)!!! Cool
