Feeder reports that a deal has been struck to sell WLS AM /FM Actually, it's the whole company and all of its stations, not just WLS. It will need the usual approvals by the Feds.

Hope this doesn't spell doom for WLS-FM. If Cumulus is as cheap as I hear they are, we could lose all the local personalities on the station to Scott Shannon 24/7! If that happens, they could go to the new K-HITS (where a majority of my listening would then take place)!

It could also be the best thing to happen to WGN since they got the Cubs back from WIND in the '50s. This ownership change could also mean the end of local talk on The Big 89.

Cumulus is a notorious penny-pinching organization. It's likely that a year or two for now, we may look at Farid and think, "God, he really wasn't that bad after all!"
This is an awful merger between two bankrupt companies with no realistic futures between them. What could go wrong?

If they take local talk off of WLS-AM then they're really stupid. Just what we need more satellite fed programming with colon blow commercials.

Personally, I prefer those hour-long Vitamin C commercials from Purity Products. They are able to cure cancer and just about everything just with vitamin C! That's why radio is awesome today! I mean, how else would we ever find out about these miraculous products? =)
Anyway doesn't WLS AM already have the colon blow ads? I thought I heard them once or twice.

That would make WLS a clone of WABC. If I'm correct, Imus was never on in Chicago. Perhaps if Cumulus gets its way, he might be forced on Chicago whether or not the audience there responds to him.

Yeah but do you want more? Think of it--24 hour colon blow! Hey maybe that's the format they're shooting for.

Look at WMAL in Washington, DC. From noon to 1AM, it's a virtual clone of WABC - the Rush/Sean/Levin/Batchelor quartet (Doug McIntrye's show is carried on nearby WBAL in Baltimore). It's no wonder why it usually gets beaten handily by Bonneville-soon-to-be-Hubbard all-newser WTOP-FM. They ignore local coverage in afternoon drive. Totally ignore it. And that's been the case largely for the past seven or eight years, when Hannity was cleared live.
