The first time I heard "a Cumulus Media station" I felt sick.

Radio Discussion Board reports that "Longtime WPLJ (95.5) overnighter Dave Stewart posts the news on his Facebook page and says goodbye after almost 22 years. Stewart may be the most visible and immediate of the cuts in New York, but Radio-Info.com hears there were other ones at talk WABC (770) and hot AC WPLJ. Cumulus closed on its $2.4 billion purchase of Citadel Broadcasting in mid-September, and has been working through the Citadel large markets, apparently starting with Dallas and recently visiting Los Angeles."

Is the hammer ready to fall at our beloved WLS?

Let's hope not, but this doesn't sound good.

Saturday morning, all WLS newscasts were from ABC...nothing local. Has this always been the norm on Saturday mornings or did the cloud already dismiss the weekend news staff?

When I started in radio in 1967, most broadcast equipment used tube technology, all recorded music was played from records on a turntable by live DJ's, there was no satellite delivery...and radio was fun.

I've always noticed that the weekend newscasts are ABC in the afternoon. Don't know about mornings though.

WLS AM is a great station...I hope they don't mess with any of the live/local elements.

Today, Feeder reports the following:
"It’s over and out for Mancow Muller in the Big Apple. His Sunday night talk show on WABC-AM in New York was among the casualties of cutbacks Friday at the station under new owner Cumulus Media. Laurie Cantillo, program director of WABC, had nothing but praise for Muller, whom she hired in September 2010. “Mancow has a unique, high-energy approach that won him many fans in New York,” she told me. “I’ll never forget his powerful show from Ground Zero on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. He’s a pro and a friend, and I wish him the best.” Muller continues to host his Monday-through-Friday morning show for Talk Radio Network from Chicago. "

I hope this is not the start for changes at WLS?Huh?

Just heard that 7-8 people have been shown the door at WLS-FM, including just a few minutes ago, PD Michael Lacrosse. Cumulus is the new CC!

It's true. Now we sit and wait for other shoes to drop.
