I understand you now Bobby. It's been a long time since the WLS, WCFL wars. They were classic, but as you pointed out WLS won.

You don't get into radio, it's born into you.

This is, possibly, one of the best ideas I have seen. The reason is as old as the industry. Radio succeeds when it does something that is bigger than itself, when it creates a "war" or entertainment that is so compelling it drives people to turn on the radio. Many years ago, Steve & Gary broke every rule in the book by complaining about station management on the air. Listeners loved it for a myriad of reasons. 1.) They would like to talk that way about their boss. 2.) It made you feel like an insider. Neil Rogers copied this exact schtick at WIOD in Miami years later with the same results, huge ratings success.

...Neil Rogers, Frazer Smith, Don Imus, Larry Lujack and Paul Gibson were all doing that -- Lujack at both WLS and WCFL, and Gibson at WBBM -- years before Dahl ever worked at WLS...

Regardless, I really don't care who was first or second of third, my point is that it was compelling and entertaining for the aforementioned reasons. I did the same schtick myself and had ratings success. .

Really enjoyed listening to WLS FM this week with LIVE Personalities. Scott needs to take a hike! SOS with him SAME OLD STUFF! Still would like them to call it the Big 95 MusicRadio WLS..... Drop the True Oldies! Sounds outdated even for an oldies station. Just sayin'

I agree with you, but nothing will happen until the sale to Cumulus is completed and then we hold our breath.
