The FCC database shows that KLEG is licensed as a Class A television station. Doesn't that mean E/I programming is mandated? If so, do they break away from the slide to meet that requirement for all two of us who watch it?

As a Class A, KLEG is supposed to meet a variety of mandates, including the three hours of E/I programming.  But I suspect that enforcement would be based on the FCC receiving a complaint about the station.

Some stations do their E/I as 30-minutes, 6 days a week.
You can probably also do 30 one-minute segments spread through the week.

KNAV not dead yet
« Reply #43 on: May 23, 2011, 04:39:22 PM »

KNAV just filed to amend their CP, so perhaps they're getting ready to go back on the air in a few months. Now they're going for the full 15kW instead of just 10. The whopping 2dB increase would push their service out a bit further into the 'burbs.

Edit: I might not even be able to receive it. Antenna height is only 180m AGL. KHPK & K31GL are 330m AGL.

Actually it looks like 31-2 and 47-3 are both Mexicanal, but they're showing different programming. Perhaps one is delayed.

As of Sunday 31-2 and 47-3 were the same. It looks like K31GL will soon be looking for something to fill 31-2 as well as 31-1.

Speaking of K31GL, RTV was off of 31-4 this weekend for the third time in about a month. Don't know if it's back on yet, but Saturdays aren't the same without the old Battlestar Galactica. It's hilarious to watch what was considered "futuristic" back in '79!

Yes; I saw they got it back on Monday.

It's no big deal; just one of life's little annoyances. I think they just have occasional problems with the RTV feed, but if problems occur Friday evening no one wants to stick around to fix them - not to mention that if they need to speak to someone at RTV there's probably no one available anyway - so they just switch over to locally-originated programming for the weekend and leave it until Monday.

Some stations do their E/I as 30-minutes, 6 days a week...

And some opt to schedule them at 7 AM, which is the earliest a station can run E/I programming per the FCC.

K31GL finally dropped long-dark channel 31-1 from their PSIP.

That's odd.  How many other stations have .2, .3 etc.. without a .1?
