I just got a text from a friend congratulating me on getting the job at WPOR. When I replied that I don't have a job...he said that he read it here. So obviously I came to see what had been posted. Needless to say I'm shocked that I've been mentioned here at all since I rarely even look at this site...let alone post.

The truth is I HAVE NOT been hired as part of the WPOR morning team. I HAVE NOT interviewed for the job.

I DID leave the job at KZKX/Lincoln after only two months. And it was for family reasons. After 13 years of following me from California to Pennsylvania, back to California, and then to Maine...my wife didn't want to move again. We now have two young sons. Life is Maine is all they know. Our friends are here. We are actively involved in the community...Boy Scouts, Little League, and our church. And my wife has an great opportunity for a new job as well.

After being unemployed for 6 months, and turning down 3 other morning show opportunities, I took the job in Lincoln...because morning radio is what I've done for nearly 25 years. It seemed like a good fit. However, after I got there and got to know the area better, we decided that Maine is the perfect place for our family. While disappointed that I resigned, there were no hard feelings. TEC understood that I'm putting my family first and fully supported my decision.

While I'm flattered that someone would take the time to mention my name as a possible candidate for the WPOR job...in this case it is someone trying to stir up a rumor for one reason or the other. I won't comment any further on that!

That's funny, because I remember a certain former Portland Morning Show jock who used to post here ALL THE TIME (under a couple of different names), who is now posting as bfoxrox!  Wow.  Small town, huh?

Well, good luck to ya, Bucky.  'Cuz you ain't gonna be spelling Portland with or without POR.
