Former KROY PD Dave Michaels passes
« on: April 21, 2011, 09:15:28 AM »

Don't know if anyone on the Sacramento board remembers him, but Dave Michaels has passed on. Dave worked in several smaller California cities before landing at KROY in 1976.  Dave did middays and primarily afternoons and in 1977 when Steve Rivers left for WIFI in Philadelphia became program director.  He left for KDAY, Los Angeles in mid 1978.  Dave also worked at KLAC, KRTH, KIQQ, and KIIS, and at the time of his passing had been the program director for Citadel Media’s Classic Hits format. He was 60.

Correction, Dave was 58.  Man that's too young.

I remember him, solid jock, only in Sac for a couple of years, but they were when KROY was still getting good ratings.  They saw a fall off starting 1979, but those last years were really good for KROY and had quite a few guys like Dave Michaels leave and go on to major market success.
