The speculation had been growing in recent days.  Apparently, it's now official.

"I am excited about the future... I am looking at a format that will allow me to engage in more multi-dimensional storytelling..."

She's joining NPR, isn't she?  Roll Eyes

She's definitely joining the talk show ranks.  Not only do you have the end of Oprah Winfrey's show at play, but there might be a few more openings/shakeups in daytime TV.

I predict a short lived talk show career. Fail.

Now who will get the hot seat on The CBS Evening News?

I have two picks, Anderson Cooper (he already helps with 60 Minutes)
or someone already working with CBS News

That person already working with CBS News is strongly rumored to be Scott Pelley.  BTW, no mention of her departure by Couric this evening on the newscast.  Perhaps her first day in London for the wedding was not the time or place.

Although right now I think Ellen DeGeneres is an excellent position to become the number-one daytime talk show, with Oprah's show ending and Regis announcing his retirement.

Somebody made a joke about Katie going to NPR.  Why not, if they'd have her?

Diane Sawyer also mentioned it towards the end of the ABC telecast.  Its funny that ABC and NBC threw out mentions, but nothing from Katie herself.
