Seems like Dallas-Ft. Worth only AC CBS Radio's KVIL 103.7 Lite FM is doing pretty bad in the market last month and few months ago. They got themselves 3.4 share and they're ranked 10th place in the DFW market for the March 2011 PPM release. (Check their ratings here: http://www.stationratings.com/ratings.asp?market=24) I hope CBS aren't looking forward to flipping KVIL Lite FM to another Fresh FM like other CBS AC stations so far. And yes, we have a lot of young demographics here in Dallas where CBS believe another Fresh FM here is a good idea. The station playlist is pretty decent for AC Lite FM (Check it out on yes.com: http://www.yes.com/#KVIL). What's Wrong? Isn't it the morning team Gene and Julie that bringing the station ratings down in the last few months? Maybe it's the Delilah's Show causing the low ratings few months ago and isn't that the reason why CC have dropped Delilah on some of their AC stations in the past year? I should post this in the DFW forum, but I believe you guys have a better understanding of AC stations.

Delilah has not been doing well for AC with PPM. That's my understanding at least.
Looks like a decent AC to me, but looks like they play one 70s an hour - I would play two instead of just one. Space them about 30-40 minutes apart. I don't think 10th place PPM is that bad. Not great, but not that bad IMO.

Yeah, KVIL playlist is pretty narrow and they lean on newer songs rather than playing more variety of 70s and 80s. That's why I prefer KMGL - Oklahoma City or KODA - Houston for AC. Too bad I live in DFW. If they have been leaning on newer songs like this, isn't their a sign that CBS Radio might have an intention to flip KVIL to another Fresh FM? I hope KVIL doesn't head for a format change though. It's the only AC in DFW.

you ought to go to yes.com and look WSPA (the local AC station in Greenville, SC that I listen to). They update their playlist once or twice a year, and recently did a really crummy update - removing 80s AC staples such as "In Your Eyes", "Higher Love", "Oh, Sherrie", "Broken Wings", "You're The Inspiration", etc. and adding other songs from the 80s such as "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake, "Your Love" by The Outfield, "She's A Beauty" by The Tubes, a ton of Bon Jovi, etc. - their 70s and 90s music is still pretty decent, but even aggressive AC's play the Peter Gabriel, Steve Winwood, etc. songs (Premium Choice does). I hate it. They don't even play a couple of recent songs like "Viva La Vida", "Haven't Met You Yet", or "I'm Yours" anymore for some reason. I used to like them a lot, but their recent changes are very disappointing. Their book was bad, so maybe they're trying something else....sure is a disappointment. We have another AC which is owned by Clear Channel, WMYI, but their presentation is so bad.

KVIL is different, they kept their playlist narrow, although they lean on newer songs though.
KMGL is pretty much the same way like WSPA and WMYI. They play mostly decent soft 70s/80s hits with some of todays hits and mix in some harder 80s songs that are usually heard on Jack FM/Bob FM (Adult Hits) or songs on Hot AC stations. KMGL doesn't update their entire playlist at once, they update their playlist slowly once in a while.
It looks like Entercom, ClearChannel, and Renda AC's are heading the same direction, parallel to each other.
Does the morning air staffs make any difference in the station's ratings much or is it mostly or all about their playlists?

KVIL probably only plays one 70s song an hour to protect sister station KLUV.

Unlike Renda Broadcasting's KMGL and KOMA in Oklahoma City, KMGL still play a lot of 70's and 80's even though they have a strong Classic Hits sister KOMA in the market.

Arbitron released April 2011 ratings for DFW market. KVIL is even worse now, it is standing in the 11th place in the market with 3.1 share.

Yet another bad book for KVIL. May '11 has them 14th with a 2.7. What's going on?
Those are almost flip numbers...no...in most markets, they are. They sound pretty good, I don't get it.

Probably the Gene and Julie morning show is putting the station off?
