Probably the Gene and Julie morning show is putting the station off?
And/or Delilah.  Delilah has been a killer in the PPM world....I would say she's losing affiliates.

Several AC stations aren't doing very well, though.  It may just be the format overall.

I'm not sure what CBS can flip KVIL's AC to... KVIL is the only AC we have in DFW. We have so many stations with different formats that filled up all the empty holes in DFW.

I know they could flip to a Fresh FM, but that would be a challenge for them to compete with CC's Hot AC KDMX, CC's CHR KHKS, and Cumulus's CHR KLIF. Plus, most of CBS's Fresh FM are doing really bad in the major markets. Although, Fresh FM might be a good choice for KVIL to flip to because that would help CBS protect their Classic Hits KLUV and Adult Hits KJKK better. I just hope they keep KVIL AC.

Yeah, Delilah haven't been doing so well with most AC stations with the PPM ratings. AC stations with Delilah haven't been doing well lately either.

And yeah, it looks like several AC's across the nation aren't doing very well either lately.

I remember last year Renda's AC KBEZ/Tulsa flipped to BOB FM (Adult Hits). Sad to hear a good AC by Renda failed. KBEZ was a really good AC station and kinda sound like Renda's AC KMGL/Oklahoma City. After I discovered Renda's AC WEJZ/Jacksonville a few months later, I think KBEZ sounded more like WEJZ when it was AC which is really good. On the other side, KBEZ was doing really bad in their ratings unlike KMGL and WEJZ which also carries Delilah. I don't really know why. Maybe the station is just facing bad luck. I believe KVIL is facing the same problem lately too. It sounds good, but it isn't doing very well.

A lot of AC stations with Delilah aren't doing good, but they're quiet a few with Delilah that I know are doing good. Here are a list of AC stations that carries Delilah that are doing good:

Renda's KMGL/Oklahoma City
Clear Channel's KODA/Houston
Renda's WEJZ/Jacksonville
CBS Radio's WEAT/West Palm Beach
Renda's WSHH/Pittsburgh

AC going down seems to be a seasonal thing. When the weather get's warm AC goes down nationally. Although KVIL is one of the more severe cases right now. At the other extereme KODA is still #1 in Houston.

As I know and remember so far, that KVIL ratings been low since last year and it's getting worse slowly (except for the the Dec/Holiday ratings).

WSB in Atlanta used to do a lot better with the "regular format", as well.

Like Jay said, some AC's, including KODA, do perfectly fine or great outside of the all-Christmas format.  Sunny 95 in Columbus, my favorite AC in the country, had a great book in May.

Can't figure out for the life of me why AC would do so well in Houston and so poorly in Dallas - I thought it might have to do with the popularity of Christian AC and/or Country in one market over the other, but I can't find any pattern to it...

Does Houston have an older average population?  (Do more people retire there cause of the coast?)

One factor is Dallas has a strong oldies/classic hits station (KLUV which is a sister station of KVIL). Houston is one of the few markets without an oldies outlet, this helps an adult targeted station such as KODA. But even when Houston did have an oldies station KODA did well year round. They are a well programmed AC.

In Oklahoma City, AC KMGL has a strong Classic Hits sister station KOMA, and that's probably the reason why KMGL ratings is a little bit low, but it's still have a good rating while it's sister station is closer to the top. Seems like Renda's AC KMGL and Classic Hits KOMA is able to share their listeners fairly well in Oklahoma City.

In Tulsa, Renda's AC KBEZ was doing really bad last year before they flipped to Adult Hits. It was doing bad probably because of Cox Radio's Hot AC KRAV. KRAV was suppose to be a Hot AC, but they play a lot of Soft AC songs mixed in with their regular Hot AC songs which is probably the reason why it killed KBEZ. After KBEZ flipped to Adult Hits, KRAV even play more Soft AC songs than they did before making it sounds like a Soft AC station even though they called themselves a Hot AC station.

WLTE in Minneapolis is another CBS AC with poor numbers.
