What ever they do, please not another smooth Jazz station.  HD Radio is horrible choices in Houston.  2 Smooth Jazz stations already on HD.

Maybe Comedy radio?

They would be nuts to put smooth jazz on AM Radio!
However I sometimes scan the AM dial in hopes of something good, I listen to Radio Disney in San Antonio 1160 to hear a tune with high bass and midrange by I think Britney Spears hands up something and it was horrible, I couldn't imagine hearing anything that was meant for stereo on AM like Jazz.

I just see SportsRadio 610 and Talk 650 on their website www.kikk.com
No programming listed under Talk 650.

Also on the True Oldies Channel website 2 spaces are blank under Texas (this is recent) maybe True Oldies on KIKK? http://www.trueoldieschannel.com/Article.asp?id=1517630  and scroll down to Texas noticed the spacing?

This channel should be deleted, the tower scrapped and the land SOLD.  Even in this economy, the site is probably worth 8 to 10 million-which is about what could fetch for the stick itself.

True Oldies 650 Houston!

Sure it would only be a daytimer, but thats better than no Oldies at all.

8 to 10 million!!! I don't think the entire town of Pasadena is worth that much.  It's sinking in the ground a little more each day.  They don't even bother fixing the streets out there anymore.  They're afraid if they do, most of the population will get homesick and go back to Mexico.  Then the economy of the whole town will collapse. Cheesy

An oldies format there would be preferable to many alternatives, but it would still be tough especially considering that the station cannot broadcast at night, nor have it's PSRA and/or PSSA (if there was such a thing) reinstated there; it is known that WSM does not cover it's territory at night like it once did; on certain evenings, Spanish language programming and-or music formats can be heard on 650 whether they'd like it or otherwise......

I may not have appreciated it at the time cause it seemed they didn't play John Denver back in 1970, but KIKK with Chuck Tiller on news and Arch Yancey in PM drive was a station that was true to it's time and place much like WABC in NYC, WLAC and WSM in Nashville, WWVA in Wheeling, and WVOK in Birmingham Alabama. Even the red KiKK bumper sticker is now a part of history. At the time, I preferred the more generic KENR 1070, but in today's world of jockless wonders like Cox Broadcasting and Clear Channel VT'ing-------------KIKK is part of a disappearing Americana.
